looks great but seems more of the same of uncharted 2. not that it's a bad thing though as i liked uncharted2 much better than 1.

@damnreds That because that's how a lot of people pronounce it in Actual Japan™. :P

In fact, that brief blip of katakana they have before they show the gameplay footage full-screen says スゲェ。 which (if your OS/browser/Joystiq doesn't support UTF) romanizes to "sugee." (The second 'e' just makes it a long "eh" sound, not an english "ee" like in "free.")

So he was right. :)

Okay I'm going to say it... That Harrison Ford commercial was pretty bad. I feel like they really wasted a really good opportunity to tie between Ford's famous character role and this awesome franchise. But then again this clearly looks like they just edited in any footage of a game into this scene of him "gaming."

Yeah, something like:
"That's not how you do it. That's not how you do that either. Woah, that's a good trick there, I'll have to remember that..."
All while wearing an Indy-esque cowboy hat/stetson thingie.

Oh my...Indy's hat is NOT cowboy hat and definitely not a stetson! It's a FEDORA. Fedoras were worn by most men in the early 20th century. I know it may sound like I'm being picky, but the idea of Indy as a cowboy makes me queasy.

My apologies, but I tried to make it obvious that there was uncertainty in my naming. I normally associate fedoras as being linen hats worn by swarthy bond villains, but I suppose that definition is a little limiting.

@kentuckyfried Wow, thank you for showing me this. It's a shame what was lost in a 30 second commercial when they gave him so much time with the game. I know when to admit I was wrong and if anyone deserves an early copy of the game it would be Harrison Ford.

Anyone notice the context melee Drake did?

*punches enemy's lights out while they're stunned*

This is gonna be GOOD.

Kinda reminds me of the commercial from the first game, where he was trying to sneak through an enemy encampment... and his phone went off, alerting everyone. So he threw his(satellite?)phone at the guy and began attacking from there.
Granted, that scene wasn't in the final product of the game, but the series definitely had its crazy moments to make up for it.

The must have paid him quite a lot, last I heard, Harrison Ford didn't really care about video games:

"With the CGI, suddenly there's a thousand enemies instead of six - the army goes off into the horizon. You don't need that. The audience loses its relationship with the threat on the screen. That's something that's consistently happening and it makes these movies like video games and that's a soulless enterprise. It's all kinetics without emotion." - Harrison Ford

You're kinda reading it out of context. When he says "soulless enterprise" he means you're not dealing with anything alive. Nothing human that you can attach to. In a movie, if you know something is CGI then you can't get as attached to the character. For example...Jar Jar Binks. Enough said.

The best example I can think of is at the beginning of the movie Thor. Where the Asgardians fight the Frost Giants on Earth. That short scene was everything Harrison Ford was talking about. Even though it was a needed scene for exposition, it was the most forgettable scene in the entire movie. In fact, the only Frost Giant anyone could really remember was king Laufey, because he was the only one that wasn't CGI out of the entire world of CGI characters.

I don't know why both can't be engaging. Unless you're a fanboy I think there's room in the world for good (but different) storytelling from both Gears and Uncharted.

It's hilarious that anytime someone speaks the truth about the Xbox or mildly critiques it, they get down voted. What a sad lot of schmucks.

Except you weren't critiquing the Xbox were you? You made one lame remark about Gears and then act surprised or offended that a few people decide to defend what they genuinely enjoy. And then you "justify" it by claiming you're "speaking the truth," and go so far as to insult the people who call you on it.

Fanboys like you need to shut the hell up and stop making the rest of us PS3 gamers look bad.

Honestly, it's way funnier to see someone stupid who thinks they're enlightened and knows "the truth" than to see an actually stupid person.

You're not getting downvoted for "critiquing the xbox," you're getting downvoted for thinking you're smart, when you really aren't.

@Platoesq

I'm debating that as well.
My 60GB launch system got YLOD on sunday. Debating getting the uncharted 3 bundle, or waiting till black friday to get a cheaper 160 GB bundle with other games (and getting this separately too, obviously). I already upgraded my old system to a 320 GB HDD ages ago, so no need to pay for the larger drive... but if I got the uncharted bundle then I could play it (and other games) sooner!

Decisions....

Instead of Harrison Ford, maybe Sony should have dressed a piece of beef jerky in a leather jacket and placed it on the couch, next to a bullwhip and PS3 controller.

The jerky at least would have pretended it gave more of a shit.
