Rayman Origins Collector's Edition is exclusive to Europe
23
Ubisoft's limbless helicopter-head hero is appearing with a little more physical fanfare in Europe. The publisher is wrapping his gorgeous return to 2D, Rayman Origins, in a Collector's Edition for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this November. Even the packaging itself is special.
The quality of the 50-page art book will likely match the visuals we've seen coming from the UbiArt framework (which integrates high-resolution illustrations and pairs them with a skeletal animation system), and the soundtrack will probably be described as "whimsical," but forget all that. The box itself folds into a cute diorama depicting mischief makers Rayman and Globox.
Ubisoft has confirmed to Joystiq that this edition of Rayman Origins, currently listed at GBP 54.99 on Amazon UK, is only coming to Europe -- soon to be the origin of quite a few imports, we imagine.

$60 is too much for this game. I'm even less interested in spending more money on top of that for a collector's edition. I'm sure it will be a good game, and I'll definately pick it up at some point.

This is going to be one of those games that I'll get for Xmas. This fall's catalogue of A titles is too much to wait for the holidays. This, however, will be a pleasant Xmas break play.

@flalex05 i agree £55 for a soundtrack and a art book? that is taking the mick and i don't touch ubisoft games anymore because of their DRM practices so i will forget this game even existed.

It's also coming to Australia and New Zealand and probably the rest of the PAL region that every games journalist seems to ignore.

Meh not too fussed that wont be released here. Sure I'd buy a cheaper one which just had an art book and sound track. Seems to cost almost double the price of the regular edition.

So what do I need to do to get this in the U.S.? Is it as easy as import and play?

@vidjagamer
I believe the answer is yes if you have a PS3. I think the 360 is region-locked.
