BREAKING NEWS: Third party accessory maker Hori makes accessory for Nintendo 3DS. Completely Nintendo's fault. Screw Nintendo.

They're doing fine at tanking their own company, to be sure, but stuff like this doesn't exactly lead to positive PR.

When Nintendo is at fault for something, I will, and do, gladly call them out. However, this is an accessory from a company that Nintendo has zero control over. There is no fault here for Nintendo.

How do you think it got the Nintendo seal? By accident? Nintendo officially endorsed this terrible terrible terrible product. You can blame them just as much as Hori.

If this wasn't officially licensed or supported by nintendo you could say they don't deserve any heat. But, it was and they do.

Hah, as if running Mario Kart Wii with its wheel wasn't horrible enough.

But really, Nintendo has always, always had a mysterious fascination with peripherals. This shouldn't surprise anyone over the age of 13.

I know why this exists, but gyroscope controls and the 3D do not mix, you are forced to choose one or the other or - in my case - neither.

Mario Kart 7 is going to own despite gimmicky shite like this.

Hori is the bes word to describe it. I would like to play with the d-pad, thank you. I can't stand motion control steering. It's too awkward. Mario Kart Wii is livIng proof. Just as long as I'm not forced to use the circle pad, I'll be fine.

This isn't all Hori's fault. Nintendo failed big time when they thought to implement motion controls in a console with 3D grapgics that require you hold the console very steady

Okay so I'll begin by informing all of you who are crying bloody murder over this that the accessory is optional. 6 billion people live on this planet so SOMEBODY (not me either) will be interested in this thing.
Next, I do agree that this will make the system less portable. However, the 6 billion rule applies here as well, there are MANY people who would either use this accessory at home only or will have a brilliant invention known as a backpack to carry the wheel in when he wants to play with it on the go. This way, when he's done playing he can detach the wheel, put it in his backpack and slip the still portable 3DS in his pocket. Not to mention, once you have the accessory you don't HAVE to take it with you every time you leave the house. It is possible that an owner will say "I don't feel like taking the wheel with me today." and so on.
Finally, and this should be the most obvious but apparently odds love to be beaten, this wheel was conceived to take advantage of the gyro controls. Yes, the gyro controls that NINTENDO built into the system. So yes, of course Nintendo will give this product an approval. Yes, once you decide to use the gyro controls, the 3D effect is ruined but there is a little something on the right of the system that can turn the effect off. It seems more and more people are forgetting that that switch even exists. So yes Nintendo created a truly versatile handheld. Current (inexpensive) technology will NOT allow gyro controls and 3D to co-exist. It all depends on the player and what he or she wants to use. 3D OR gyro! I for one will probably alternate between the two choices for most games. "I feel like using the 3D effect today." or "I feel like using the gyro controls today." But, hey, I'm just one in 6 billion.
