The only thing that could've made this game better is co-op of some sort. Have a buddy play as robin and follow you around the city. I don't care if it's AI controlled or not; you could perform double-team takedowns and crap. Now THAT would be awesome.

This is awesome but I can't help but ask why was DLC released only two weeks after the game is released...I don't know how I feel about that.....I don't like when developers talk about DLC before a game is even released....Not cool in my opinion.

@ZexionArmando Not really Catwoman was included content unless you bought it used (and even then at some outlets you'd get it free as they are covering the "project 10 dollar" cost.) If people weren't buying so many used games it'd not be as much of an issue.

gaming is expensive man....in this gen developers are sooo lazy with making these games that most are worth paying 65 bucks for....Their are really no excuses why i can 65 bucks for batman which looks amazing and have to pay 65 bucks for a game like Rise of Nightmares....so yes I will rent and buy used because they haven't done the work to entice to pay that much for it....I do not mean to sound to passionate about this but it is something that urks me about this gen of game development.

If you rent or buy used, you have absolutely no right whatsoever to complain about not getting the exact same experience.

If I buy a car used, I can't complain that the odometer has more than a thousand miles; if I buy a used graphics card, I can't complain that it didn't contain the same free game that people who are buying it new are getting.

Missing content is the compromise you have to make for being cheap.

Hello mangled, non-sensical analogy, how are you today?

What you are comparing with the odometer would be like if someone bought a used SNES game and whined that someone used the save data. The more apt comparison would be if you bought a used car compared to a new version /OF THAT SAME YEAR CAR/ and it underperformed for no particular reason. You'd have all right to complain.

Excluding Catwoman DLC is a lame practice, but whatever. But there are tons of uses of Online Passes that are borderline criminal, like Battlefield 3, which locks out all online play. I love how people such as yourself are willingly throwing away consumer rights and believing everything a publisher claims.

"If people weren't buying so many used games it'd not be as much of an issue."

Really? That's your defense for Project 10 Dollar? Catwoman was always signaled as a part of the core game itself, but just before AC's release, Rocksteady comes out and says "Oh, sorry, Catwoman = DLC code. Sorry pre-owned buyers!" Catwoman's story intertwines with Batman's, and changes how the core game is perceived. Think of it as Separate Ways from RE4, but rather than played separately (like it is in the game), her missions are interlinked with Batman's.

Buying pre-owned is perfect for those who can't afford the $60 price tag for the games coming out. I dropped down to GameFly to feed my habit, because 80% of my paycheck was going towards them, not other things like food, car payments and cell phone bills. You know, things you /need/. Sure, I still buy some games new (I bought Batman new and I plan on buying Uncharted 3, Assassin's Creed, Zelda and Halo Remake new, because (A) I want them stat and (B) I want to support the developers). A lot of people will put off buying new to save some cash to put towards more pertinent stuff.

Making Catwoman's missions DLC was - and still is - absurd. Hell, allowing GameStop to generate codes for it is completely backwards. They just fixed the loophole that is buying pre-owned; the incentive to buy new was lost simply by allowing GameStop to do exactly that.

I think your argument needs to be reworded. Let's try...this:

"If developers/publishers didn't overcharge for their games, knowing damn well that Duke Nukem Forever isn't worth $60, then consumers wouldn't hesitate on plopping down cash for the game."

I'm not saying Batman is overpriced ($50-60 is a great price for the game). If you price accordingly, you'll attract new customers, and your sales will skyrocket. Look how quickly games like Duke, Brink and Dragon Age II dropped down to $20-30; those games were definitely not worth the $60 the developers/publishers slapped on it.

Besides, do we really need $60 million budgets to make games? If you can crank out annual sequels, you can cut your development costs drastically, recycle assets, which would mean lower costs for games, meaning the perceived value vastly outweighs the price of the game. If your return investment is over 4000% for Black Ops, I'm sure you can sell the game for $40 right out the game.

Except the analogy of the graphics card is more than apt. Both the new and used cards will perform identically, but one comes with a game and the other doesn't.

I love how people are so quick to pull the "consumer rights violation" card whenever something is done they don't agree with. I'd like to know which of your consumer rights was violated.

No, you're right, publishers and developers should suffer losses on used game sales because your job is too shitty for you to afford video games.

PC gamers don't even have the option of buying pre-owned. The entire catalog of PC games is Catwoman DLC; we buy games new because we're not entitled little shits complaining we're getting less content despite not giving the developers a dime.

And in what world should they do that if they know they can sell it at $60 and make more $$ - should they tell their shareholders they just felt like being nice?

For the record, games have been in the $50-$60 price range as far back as the Atari 2600

@Baagawk Predator mode stuff would be difficult too, imaging Bats and Robin grappling for the same vantage point and smashing their heads at velocity.
What would be cool is if there was a Robin story along with the Batman one. Basically showing what Robin is doing in Gotham while Batman is dealing with Arkham City. Having this run simultaneously and have multiple points where Robin swoops into Arkham to assist Bats with a truly diabolical battle. Obviously most of the bad guys are locked in Arkham but there are still more outside he can contend with. Possible future DLC???

Co-op challenge maps would be awesome too.

Have some self respect and don't buy this incredibly poor value DLC.

They are, as we say in the UK (where the game is made) 'Taking the piss.' They probably used that exact term when deciding how much to charge.

@(Unverified) According to Gamesradar, it costs $5.99 on PSN, I'm not sure if they are correct though.

"You won’t be taking Nightwing through Arkham City proper, as he’s confined to the challenge maps in the game, but he comes with two original challenge maps, Wayne Manor and Main Hall, which sound like a nice change from the snowy streets of Arkham City. Nightwing also comes with his own Animated Series skin, so you can make him look like like he did during the later run of episodes in the Bruce Timm/Paul Dini series.

The DLC goes on sale November 1 for 560 MS points or $5.99 on PSN."

Robin isn't actually silent, he just doesn't have any challenge map dialogue himself (though enemies do acknowledge him and he does make vocal noises when he attacks or is attacked.)

I just can't wait for the Penguin Pack =)

Why can't you? After you beat the game there are several points on the map where you can change characters from Batman to Catwoman. This will be the same way, you can change to Nightwing. It would be pointless to make a character only for the challenge maps.

No, it shouldn't. Things like different colored Street Fighter costumes or whatever should (or, okay, different Batman costumes.) This is an entirely new character render with animations that had to be made from scratch and is way outside the scope of the project. Granted, I think they're charging about 2 or 3 bucks to much for it, but it also probably shouldn't be free.

I'm thinking if you don't think Arkham City has enough value included on the disc itself (Campaign, Catwoman stuff, Riddler stuff, a dozen or so side-quests, and an assload of challenge maps,) then you either haven't played the game, or just expect too damn much.

I hope we get some campaign DLC instead of just characters. I'd love to play some Robin campaign stuff that intersected with the main story and set up Robin's cameo. It would be cool if you were on a mission in outside Arkham city when you're contacted by Alfred to deliver the Line Launcher. Sneaking into Arkham city could be cool... just some thoughts.
