You can't prove it by me, Android can do everything the iPhone can without being tied down to a proprietary market or hacked.

For every exclusive game on iTunes there are tons of knock offs of that game that run as well as the original, on both markets for less.

So Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery, Chaos Rings, and Infinity Blade all have cheap Android knock-offs?

Whatever makes you sleep at night I guess. Personally I rather play the real deal seeing how they're great.

@3dpenguin 4G...TRUE 4G...is pointless unless you are using your phone for a hotspot....and have no Wifi around you anywhere. I mean besides it killing your battery faster when its on...who the hell needs the max speeds of LTE and LTE Advanced on a phone? I mean are you filming that much HD video on your phone where you need that speed to upload the videos faster?

I have the Xperia Play as well, while its a bit of a pain mapping buttons some times, once they are mapped the gaming is much much better! although I have yet to find a use for the analog stick.

not needing to Jailbreak is nice to install emulators, Dragon Quest III japanse SNES with translation is a huge improvement to my NES cart.

Whats the matter Chris... either you're jealous of the 4G speeds android can get, or you've been drinking too much Apple Kool Aid, speed is speed. Only reason why Apple decided to stick with 3G is the that they can get a boost due to the lack of use of the 3G network thanks to the upgrade to 4G, and the fact they didn't want to pay for 4G components.

Same here, I was thinking of getting the Xperia Play, but seeing as how my Nexus S is getting ICS support I decided to hold off. But if Sony came out with another gaming smartphone with ICS support I'd be all over it.

Yep I agree. I just hope Sony is better than Ericsson was at updating their software. It took FOREVER for most Sony Ericsson phones to get Froyo. I think Gingerbread is still trickling out for some devices.

I'm REALLY anxious to get the Galaxy Nexus, but now I feel like I should wait to see what Sony has to offer.

@NaeemTHM they have gotten better with Gingerbread. It still remains to be seen but the plan was to get out updates on all future devices in a time manner....so we will have to wait and see

the important thing is that they did upgrade the X10 all the way to 2.3 while a lot of newer handsets stayed stuck on 2.2. My X10 is a really good device and I find that many features work better than on my wife's Galaxy (especially the GPS). The phones quality and reliability + the fact they supported it won me over.

What are you currently using Chris? Are you getting the Galaxy Nexus or waiting for something better (or will you just update your current device to ICS)?

Meh, it'd be best if Sony kept around certain namebrands, at least in name alone, while they go into Smartphones.

And really, the "Walkman" line began with Sony even before Mobile Phones became popular, so they own the rights to it and possible future usage of it.

I only associate Sony-Ericsson with bad or average things. Right or wrong, that name has negative connotations to me.

What would be best for Sony is if they would focus on their product lines better. Instead of releasing a bunch of crap all at once with a hidden gem once in a while; they should only release gems.

The Sony name briefly meant quality. Now it just means, RTFA or you may get burnt.

@Mmmmz Uhhhhh The newer Xperia phones are bad ass. Even better than some of the some HTC phones. Every since Android SE devices have gotten better and better. And with this, my guess is they will further improve. I.E. every Sony phone will most likely have a lot of features that run across numerous Sony devices. Their cameras will improve, and can you image how bad ass a cellphone with the Vita processor in it will be in a few years....after they work on the battery life of course.

The Vita processor is a standard one (not Sony's afaik), so yes, quad-core processors will be in both Sony's phones and those from all other manufacturers once power usage is reduced.

As for cameras, Sony also sell their camera modules to all cellphone manufacturers (such as Apple for the iPhone 4S).

So don't expect Sony phones to be significantly different from everyone else's in basic commodity features like CPU and camera.

However you can expect better support for gaming like on Xperia Play, as well as more integration with other Sony devices and services (beyond 'uh we put in the icon for our music store' which is about the level of integration they currently offer, at least on my SE phone). Like, I dunno, maybe all Sony phones will work out of the box as fancy remotes for Sony TVs, for instance... obviously that's kind of a trivial example but hopefully they will have some better ideas. :)

There's a sony ericsson phone called the Aino that came out already. It allowed you to access your psn account and the xmb remotely(like in another city remotely), turn the ps3 off, send psn messages and such. I forget the other features.
