Yeah, the "disembodied screaming" is due to the fact that this was shown (premeired?) on a Japanese Talk-Show (Variety show?) and the studio cast watching it are commenting over the clip. It is a pretty standard way that these type of TV programs show clips, so you, the audience, feel you are still part of the show (and this type of technique is not just limited to Japan).

So, for anyone curious, that's the reason. You gotta drown out those voices and focus on listening to the softer actual preview dialogue/sound of the clip.

I see a major error in character design Mia Fey's boobs are not double-D's in this movie.
Seriously, look: http://aceattorney.wikia.com/wiki/Mia_Fey
Not nearly enough cleavage showing in the movie.

Why DIDN'T they just have one episode in the movie anyway? I'm pretty sure they can't fit all of those court cases in a 1-2hr film. (the minimum time in which I beat the game was 5 hours)

What we're getting is overly cut jargon where only INCREDIBLY specific points of the character plots will be presented. They probably won't even allow time for the third case to be shown. (POOF. We see the Steel Samurai. POOF. We're in the courtroom seeing Will Powers acquitted. POOF. We're at the forth case. srsly.)

If they did a unique episode specific to this movie, they can go into detail and bring out the facts and emotion. The story the film presents will be new to old fans and new fans, bringing more excitement. It would cost less money because Phoenix Wright games generally stay in 2-5 areas. There's a minimum of five sets right there. They could incorporate interesting writing that can introduce the characters to uninformed audiences (of the Ace Attorney franchise) and still pull off a wonderful case. With proper writing, they could even open-end the movie for a sequel if the movie does well! That means that CAPCOM doesn't have to make excuses to make a new Phoenix Wright game and still bring the fans more Phoenixy goodness.

I don't understand Hollywood sometimes.

TAKE THAT, Law and Order, The Practice and Ally McBeal.

This is how you do law!

Jokes aside, I always respect japanese movies for being spot on faithfull to its sources, no matter how insane the source.

While on our side of the world a director can't touch something as Uncharted without having to change it to Occean's Twelve or turning Chun-Li into a pianist (somehow pianist was better for an action movie then interpol agent? Really?)

Never understood the fetish for radically changing the source material. Probably the director trying to go "I CAN DO THINGS TOO YOU KNOW!"

@thechaos I agree. You'd think people would learn from past mistakes. Making a movie _look_ like a game doesn't make it good, in fact, 9 out of 10 times, it means it's gonna be crappy, because it means the director is sticking really close to actual game, which never translates well to other mediums, as oppose to concentrating on the ideas and the characters.

And before anyone tries to argue with me - street fighter, mortal combat, doa, should I keep going?

Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, Mario Bros, etc...those stories for those games sucked balls. It wasn't meant for a riveting tale of exciting adventures. Phoenix Wright's gameplay is mostly revolved around the story making gameplay mostly non-existent.

Of course this movie could bomb too. We'll see.

I really don't like it when people make live-action movies of games and anime and there are always so many flaws. The defense always goes on the left, they're not all meant to be asian, and MOST of those people do not have black hair. If they really want people to be excited besides the Japanese, they need to put more work into this.

How much is hair-dye, seriously?

I have to object here.. It looks like the majority of Japan's sorry television dramas.

The actors look like they're wearing elaborate cosplay rather than becoming the characters in a believable manner.

Love the games, and I'm sure this film could provide fair entertainment, but it's far from what I'd hope for. This looks like a lower budget television special.

The only real complain I have here is that I really dont dig Maya Fey's costume, especially the hair.

I know they were trying to stay faithful to the game and all but a little bit of modernization could've helped.

Haha! That second actor's in the very weirdly Japanese "Princess Princess D", where Japanese high school guys dress up as princesses for popularity. (Yes I'm very knowledgeable in strange Japanese culture...)
