The first expansion pack for Battlefield 3, Back to Karkand, will launch in December and include four classic Battlefield maps -- Wake Island, Strike at Karkand, Gulf of Oman and Sharqi Penninsula -- and we can now see the remastery in some screens. Back to Karkand will feature 10 iconic Battlefield weapons, five new dog tags, five new achievements, three new vehicles and as much bloodshed as EA's servers can handle -- which may only be a few pints, depending on the position of your ports.

Looks awesome but did anyone else get the impression that when they first announced Karkand that it would be a day one release DLC.? I was a Sad Panda when I opened the box and it said on the flyer "coming soon".
I hope these maps are in the regular map rotation and not a separate part of the game like Bad Company 2 and Vietnam.

All the extra maps that got unlocked via BFBC2s VIP got added to the regular rotation if you had them so it should work the same hopefully.

I thought it was Day 1 as well, but I looked around afterward and saw that it was well publicized that it was to be released later. Apparently I was too blinded by the thought of new Karkand and Wake Island maps to concentrate on the rest of the details.

Sorry to pee in the pool, but it won't be integrated into the regular map rotation.
It's a separate experience with its own weapon set, etc. Much like Vietnam was to BFBC2. On the PC version Karkand has it's own battelog page and isn't integrated into the BF3 section. It has its own server list, and will not be added to the BF3 stuff. Sorry :/

I can't wait for Wake Island. That's what I liked about BF 1942, all the maps were on an Island, no map boundaries and the fact that the whole battle is sort of secluded. Can't wait for the Frostbite 2.0 update!

Meh. Overrated. They try to play up destructible environments, but it's no different than what was already in BFBC2. Also, love how sometimes "destroyed" structures still have a single piece of brick/cement just hanging in mid-air without any support whatsoever.

So much damn fun playing battlefield. 1942 was awesome...and wake island I would try to swim across from other side of map and die in the water or get sniped....ah good times!!!!!

That too!!! I loved the huge ass map el amein also. Loading the jeep with c4 as a getaway decoy vehicle near the flag. Another of my favs was parachuting onto the roof of a hangar and sniping the enemy base.

Get your priorities straight. Fix the network issues and then release DLC.

@(Unverified) Considering the DLC isn't coming out for 2 months and the server issues will likely be fixed by next week

With all the bugs, Origin, server issues, etc, nobody will care about this game in two months. EA is spoon feeding you DLC to keep people interested because this game isn't finished and overall a complete let down.
This game will go down as a cautionary tale in how to ruin a series. Thank god the real king of FPS will be back in two weeks, I won't have to read these bs fanboy comments in how great this game is and how great EA is. Open your eyes, Origin is stealing all yor information while you play.

@(Unverified) I guess it is cool you circumvent Origin by playing the console version. And origin stealing your personal information? Did I walk into a damn tinfoil hat area and not realize it?
As for your reference of COD being.the "king of FPS" comment and the inexplicable ironical situation you established by that and calling people who like BF3 fanboys, imagine this: they are two different gamed that play nothing alike and are aimed toward completely different audiences. Deal with it.

so what are they going to charge people who do not get the map pack with the game? Some BS price like almost every other "map pack"?
800ms points ($10) would be an OK starting point.
Its EA though...

You need to buy the Limited Edition though, but it's really not that limited at all...you get it everywhere.

They definitely need to fix the networking issues on both PS3 and 360.
Here's a nice little bug that I found over the weekend playing BF3. I have 2 copies of the game for 360 and I have not had to redeem one of my passes to play online. I only redeemed one, re-downloaded again on my second console and I have been able to play using two different live accounts and only 1 pass redeemed.
