This new Darkness 2 trailer is impressively gross
32
For the most part, we as a culture have become desensitized to the ridiculous level of extremely graphic, realistic violence pervasive in most forms of entertainment media, which is why we're so damn impressed by how incredibly disgusting the latest trailer for The Darkness 2 is.
Watching a man's spine and skull get ripped out through his scrotum (by chattering tentacle creatures, no less) wasn't really something we had planned on doing today, but there you go. While you check out the trailer, we're going to go cleanse our palate with something a little less violent, like Mortal Kombat.

Then I saw it, and then I removed my anus and genitals altogether in fear of becoming prey to a fate like what we just witnessed.

Does the game you're developing have no apparent storyline or redeeming gameplay features? No problem! All you need is a good subtitle and your sequence of barely-interactive gore animations will sell like hotcakes!
How about The Darkness 2: The Deathgore Bloodmurders? Maybe The Darkness 2: Cockshredder versus Spinestomp 3? If you're willing to take a gamble, The Darkness 2: Killscream 4: Headgrinder Gaiden: Jedi Apprentice is inexplicably still available!

agreed. the darkness is actually one of the better story driven FPS games this gen, imo. probably has something to do with the comic writer penning the story for the game.
i loved the first. there were some technical problems with the graphics, and the multiplayer aspect was atrocious, but all in all it was a fun game. never could understand the complaints about not being able to find your way around. i think those were just complaints from a generation that is used to having their hand held for every single thing they do.

So, that's innovation these days, eh? Gore Porn FTW... and a loss for gamers.
This is them saying "Yo Gamer, you're too stupid to realize that this game only has generic opponents, a generic story, and generic mechanics, 'cause we cleverly disguised it by adding in the ability to rip someone's spine out through their rectum. Give us your money for our awesome "innovation" you dumb sheep."
Well, whatever. If you buy it, I hope you enjoy it!
As an aside; did anyone else get a creepy "Tentacle Hentai" vibe from this? Also, could that be the reason there were no female enemies? Should feminists to be complaining about lack of equal representation here? Just a few thoughts for a lazy Sunday morning.

@Kresh
Really? You're going to try and bring that up about a franchise that gave us this?

First of all, the app or mobile version should have a playable video embedded.
As far as the game goes ... Wow it's just sadistically violent. Gore porn is the right word. Doesn't appeal to me personally BUT if you can stomach the violence (I can't as even dead space 2 pushed me to my limits) it links freaking awesome. Glad to see more innovation in the fps genre with all the tentacles and stuff. The first one was pretty good but this is so far above that in every way that it looks like a franchise that could stick around.

It's good to see the developers are focusing on the things that made the forst game unique! No, silly, not the excellent storytelling, memorable environments or incredible sense of atmosphere - the senseless violence! Duh!

Suddenly: Elfen Lied.
Never played the first one, but I'm calling this now regardless if you've seen what you look like yet. At the end of the game you're to see yourself and you'll be a naked teenage girl with horns.

this just went from a standard day one purchase (loved the first game) to a 'drive 90 mph all the way to the store day one purchase'

Anyone who is convinced this couldn't be good needs to stop for a moment and think about one thing. Could this have Kinect support? Your mind is now blown.

Looks lame, not as lame as the 1st one though. More like cheap, like the $19.95 bin.

I'm guessing the developers have decided they can live without any sales in Australia, unless the new classifications come in, there's no way this is welcome here.
Judging any game based on clips of execution animations would seem to be somewhat premature, i liked the first one, and will just see how this pans out.
