Free Battlefield 3 skins and dog tags available through Dr. Pepper promotion

DLC dogtags for BF3, thanks to Dr. Pepper.

EA has signed on with Dr. Pepper to release some exclusive DLC for Battlefield 3 this week. Every specially marked bottle of Dr. Pepper has a code in it that you can redeem on the official Dr. Pepper site, and that code will earn you special DLC for the game. This includes mulitplayer skins and a PlayStation Home avatar, to various special edition dog tags to display. You can see the dog tag choices above; they're especially meme-y for some reason, like a whole six wolf moon to Hello Kitty, and a Rebecca Black-inspired beer bottle opener.

If you don't want to shell out for the soda itself, you can get a free code through Dr. Pepper's website (though you can only select the content for one platform, so choose wisely). The promotion ends on December 31, so make sure you put them in by the end of 2011. And give thanks to the ever-lovin' gods of sugar water for the free BF3 DLC.

As cool as the can opener shape is the words on it disgust me, I don't need Rebecca Black anywhere NEAR my Battlefield.

I thought they were dishing out freebies on the website, until I saw it's one of those legalities where you have to snail mail a request for a free code.

My sis said she recognized the bones from a game, but I'm drawing a complete blank.

Got the Home item, m'self. Don't ever see myself playing BF3.

The article mentions that you can get a code through the website without having to buy a Dr. Pepper...so how? I went to the site, created an account, and it only asks me to redeem a code I have already. Any insight on this, anyone?

Wow so reconfiguring ports, buying fizzy pop to get freebies and a complete mess of a launch. I've never felt so close to 2008 as I do now.

I'm a little confused....do you have to buy a Dr. Pepper to get these? The reason I ask is I noticed last night on my Xbox that I already have the one on the bottom left and I had no idea where it came from.

I've actually had a bottle with the code since early October. I checked the fine print, deadline is December 31st, so I'm pretty sure it's not something different. I'll try the code later.

And you can bet they'll be doing this again in a few months for Mass Effect 3!

You can also get 5 free tags in North America for watching the "Act Of Valor" movie trailer.
