I feel sorry for the people that got laid off, but considering Silicon's track record lay offs only seemed inevitable.

I feel sorry for the Canadian people. Didn't Silicon Knights get a bail out from the government a year ago?

UnitedFrontGames FINISHED a game for Activision - had it canceled - and they found a new home without any layoffs. Could it possibly be because your games are flipping awful, SK?

Hey Canadian Joytiqers, how do you feel about your tax dollars going to prop up a company that continues to make bad products?

@dogmaticatheist It's not any different then any other government funded project that's propped up, makes no product and doesn't hire the requested amount of people.

At least it's only 8 million and not a billion or something.
And of course, we won't find out where that 8 million went, though I'm sure this Denis guy will have a nice new car.

I'm sorely tempted to get my tax money back by boosting the wheels off his nice new car.

Canada's taxpayers need to look into SK fleecing them out of their money.

Go to someone that will actually let you put time into the game instead of Activision.

Maybe it was X-men Destiny 2, and the honeymoon was over soon as the first's sales came in.

The only thing these guys did that I liked was the updated Metal Gear Solid for the GameCube. Too Human felty clunky and awful. X-men Destinty sounds like an absolutely ridiculous concept for a marvel game. I get to mix and match mutant powers as I playthough? Did SK ever read an X-Men comic? The whole concept sounded like they watch X-Men Origins Wolverine and saw the "Deadpool" travesty of a character with his mix and match powers and decided "This would be an awesome game!"

It is sad to see people lose their jobs. But I feel that if they put out quality games they probably wouldn't get dropped from publishers or would have enough capital that they could publish their own stuff.

No, making bad games is the culprit. Make Eternal Darkness 2 and I'll buy your game. Keep making garbage like Too Human and the new X Men game, and you won't get my money.

I have a feeling at this point, they'd just screw that up too.

@Dickhole Pasta No more so than assuming they wouldn't bring those very same problems over into Eternal Darkness 2.

If they can make Eternal Darkness 2, and make it great, then they can fix the problems Too Human had (and hopefully not lose the small, but loyal fanbase the original had).

They can't make it because Nintendo owns publishing right to the Twin Snakes name.

How far this studio has fallen...Loved Eternal Darkness, Loved Twin Snakes. Since then...nothing but high promises and dumpster fire results. X-Men may not have been 100% their fault since they were working with Activision, but they sure as hell gave that travesty life. Silicon Knights get your swagger back!

Nothing guarantees sub par results better than a government subsidy.
