Chance plays a pretty big role in the multiplayer component of Need for Speed: The Run. Not in the actual driving -- though it'd be neat if you had to maneuver around the occasional stray buffalo -- but in the pre-match modifiers, as seen in the trailer above.

I'd like that the multiplayer included sequences where you had to run, on foot... after all, isn't his "The Run"?? I want a minigame where you chase people on foot, that would be killing!!!

I am the only one who, when unlocking further races in Gran Turismo 5, got super excited about the Italian racing series...only to be let down by finding out it was just a bunch of races randomly around Italy, NOT an endurance race from one end of Italy to the other end...

Played the demo for this and I gotta say, there is something about the handling and the visuals that just feel "off." I had previously read a comment on here from someone who mentioned it and I thought that certainly it wasn't that bad, it's just their opinion, its Frostbite 2, I need to check it out myself (being an arcade racer lover and actually someone enjoying the direction they've taken the NFS series)...but they were right. Something just doesn't gel, its weird. The handling feeling off may be something that changes with time but my general feeling was that it got in the way of me having fun in an arcade racer. I had to rely on the brake too much for turns and when needing said braking, the flow of the turn was destroyed, excitement was then gone because the acceleration was from such a slow speed. But even with that being something that may change with play time time, the visuals were honestly enough for me not to buy it. "Off" is the only way I know how to describe it because it was actually off-putting, a feeling that never went away after 4 playthroughs of the demo.

This game is hitting all the wrong buttons for me.
Even the title "Need for Speed: The Run" reads as oxymoronic.
I'm going to hold off for the next Burnout title to get my racing fix.

Forget "The Run - The Game" and make it into a movie already. I know you want to.
The handling in the last couple NFS games was atrocious, be it Hot Pursuit with it's "coasting" turns or the wannabe sim of Shift 1 and 2 with their ultralight cars. And what I played from the demo, this one will be even worse. The best arcade racer still is PGR4.

When it first said 'Race coast to coast' I thought it would be realtime from NY to LA or something.
Seriously though, it wouldn't take long to do it. Roughly 2500 miles, at 200mph in a good car in the game, allowing for crashes and stuff, just about a day.. Would be a groundbreaking moment in video games.
