Saints Row: The Third PC system requirements revealed
27
Volition passed along the Saints Row: The Third PC system requirements to Destructoid and the recommended specs are kinda beefy. Not Crysis 2 at max settings beefy, but you'll need a GeForce GTX 400 series or better, or ATI Radeon HD5000 series or better graphics card, and a quad core processor under the hood -- you know, if you're looking to really soak in the visual symphony that is watching a man in a feathered hat kill a helpless citizen on the streets of Steelport with a gigantic dildo bat. The required specs are a bit more forgiving.
On top of that, Volition also posted about some specific PC features over on the Saints Row site, including "AMD Eyefinity support, DX9, DX10, and DX11 support, Crossfire enabled, SLI enabled, advanced depth of field, reflections, and ambient occlusion quality, and, of course, God Rays." Perhaps the platform's best feature, however, is the Saints Video Record Mode, which allows you to save specific gameplay clips and upload them to your preferred video hosting service. Or we guess you could just hold on to the clips as a personal, secret reminder of that one time you did a barrel roll in your Mercedes through a crowd of people. Entirely up to you.
Saints Row: The Third launches on November 15 on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

Seems pretty modest.

You said "Entirely up to you." twice on the front page. The humor in this is that I laughed very hard both times.
I wish I had your linguistic prowess.

Thank god, i was really hoping they didn't repeat the catastrophe that was saints row 2 on the pc. I have a gtx 560 and was getting a max of 24 fps in sr2.

I find it funny that my PC still can't run Saints Row II, yet will run Saints Row III when it comes out.

There's no multiplayer in SRTT so being a co-op only affair its probably a bit more likely that it will support LAN.

Hope this will run well. SR2 was the worst PC port of all time...and yet I still trudged through it because the game was that much fun.

@Faceless Troll Agree I never had a single fps issue with Saints row 2, but gta4 brought my system to it's knees on medium (2 x hd6850's)
So far that's the only game that has ever done that , considering how everyone always says amd have terrible drivers I think I'm pretty lucky

I run both GTA4 and SR2 fine now that I upgraded my computer. But previously I had a 9800GT and a Dual Core processor which should have ran SR2 just fine but it didn't. Still if you ever browse the SR2 PC forums you get A LOT of complaints and a clear abandonment on Volition's part to update/patch the game in any way shape or form. At least Rockstar was listening to the fans about their abysmal PC port.

Even with settings reduced I was only getting around 25 fps, with constant drops.
That would have been fine, I was managing to live with it... Until the game save corrupted itself and now won't let me complete any missions without the game crashing.
Thanks SR2... And I was even having fun!

@Faceless Troll GTA4 became better on the PC with later patches. With a beefy rig, its by far the definitive version of the game.

@Startbuttonnews Well, Volition didn't actually do the SR2 port... It was CD Projekt.
Yes, the developers of The Witcher series did the worst PC port of all time.

Did you guys see the new GTA trailer?

@edoglost
Yes, I did. It looked like the norm for the new GTA games; taking itself too seriously, and thus ruining the feel Free-Roam should have.
Saints Row The Third however.... Hah.

It was much more a trailer designed to show the visuals and scenery of the game over anything, which looked amazing.
Drawing any other conclusions from a one minute 30 second trailer of basically landscape panoramas is a bit premature, to say the least.

It's great to see out of the box eyefinity/surround support! Hopefully it's working correctly (unlike BF3).

No more having to wait and see how the pc version turns out.

I'm getting the PC version. Hope I can still run high settings with my GTX 560 Ti and Core 2 Duo 3.6ghz. The initiation station had no anti-aliasing on PC, they better fix that shit.
