Capcom: No plans for an Operation Raccoon City beta
17
At Capcom's Gamer's Day event last month, following a presentation on Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, producer Mike Jones made some statements that this writer took as intent to launch a public beta early next year. "Obviously there are some camera issues and stuff," he said of the build we just watched his colleague play through, "but we're nearing a pretty solid beta, which will be out early next year."
Today, Capcom posted this statement on its Capcom-Unity site dismissing the notion. So, as it stands right now, there will not be a public demo or beta for Operation Raccoon City. We here at Joystiq apologize for any confusion and strive to offer you only the facts. And the occasional Photoshop day, of course.

Of all the games coming out, this one should have a beta. I'm very doubtful of this game so it's not a day one pick up. Would like a beta to change my mind though.
There goes that dream.

There should be some more communication. I hate getting my hopes up for naught.

I make a point now, to only purchase Capcom games before playing them at a friends or playing a demo. They have become worse than THQ in terms of quality games.

That is one serious game of hide-and-seek.

Beta for multiplayer is a must. Halo started the multiplayer beta process on consoles.

Well, that doesn't look good when a producer makes a statement about a beta, and then the company later reverses that position.

There is a good reason for this actually...
They don't want people to realize just how absolutely shit-tastic this game will be before people shell out the $60 to buy it. Having watched the gameplay videos (not a perfect indicator of gameplay I'm aware), its a complete and utter joke compared to most anything.

So despite what people have been saying about this game (which at this point has been pretty poor) I'm actually looking forward to it!
I really enjoyed SOCOM Confrontation, which not being great, was still a good SOCOM game (unlike SOCOM IV), this looks exactly like it!
I don't think reviews will be very good for this game (high 60, low 70) but I'll still enjoy it, seeing as I managed to enjoy SOCOM Confrontation despite its poor reviews.

I think they're afraid of too much negative feed back.
