Heavy Rain Director's Cut slated for November 8
54
Heavy Rain Director's Cut launches on November 8. In addition to scrapped content, the re-release also includes The Taxidermist DLC, the soundtrack, eight bonus making-of videos, a few themes, concept art and two trailers, PlayStation Blog reports. There's also a new front-end menu and UI with Move support.
To celebrate the (re)launch, Sony's making the Heavy Rain Crime Scene Dynamic Theme available on PSN the same day. We're sure that'll fill the void in your heart left by the child you lost at the mall that one time.
[Update: This post originally said the Director's Cut included the game's deleted scenes, which ... well, it doesn't. We apologize for the mistake, please don't drown us.]

I wish these guys could team up with the makers of Splinter Cell, acquire the rights to the show 24 and produce an amazing narrative with branching plot points, twists, awkward Chloe moments and splinter cell-style action sequences.

did you ever play the 24 video game? it sucked, i enjoyed the story but the gameplay was horrible.

@ChaseHammerJ I did play it, enjoyed the story as well as the ability to shout "CTU! Federal agent!" while smacking people upside the head, but unfortunately I encountered a glitch that prevented me from finishing the game. I was supposed to snipe an individual, but failed the mission. When it reloaded the mission objective was to still snipe the guy but he never showed up ever again. So yeah, great game...

Well, I guess it is time to finally pick this game up. Let's see which of them survive the longest. *grins*

I can't believe there were any deleted scenes in this game. The first half hour or so was so painful I was ready to stop playing but my wife insisted we keep going and then finally the plot picked up the pace.

Oh yeah, getting through the initial family crap is painful. I understand that they were trying to establish an emotional connection for the player, but its terribly boring. Fortunately, the game slowly ramps up and really gets interesting. I would've loved more of the FBI agent, though.

There were supposed to be more DLC that explained away some of the plotholes, but we only got one story because Sony paid them to focus on Move compatibility.
As if we needed another reason to hate motion control.

Such a good game. I have yet to play a game like this, one that kept me on the edge of my seat the entire game.

The Playstation Blog article makes no mention of being able to play through the deleted scenes...

Will this be it's own set of Trophies? Because I never got around to finishing the original copy and had to return it to my friend.

@That One Guy
If it makes you feel any better, the head developer said that its best if you only play it once. His thinking was that your playthrough gave to you Your version of the story and to replay it is to diminish the experience. Personally, I'm a big fan of that idea.
I found the Dad to be so terribly annoying that I made him fail at everything he did, but I loved the other characters. Its a unique experience and I quite enjoyed using the Move controller, even if the prompts were a bit vague sometimes.

So. It includes:
-Deleted scenes you can watch for free.
-Move support (which the normal game has already anyway)
-DLC which was universally panned.
-Themes (Zzzz)
-Soundtrack (probably the best thing here)
-Concept Art & Making of videos (I remember seeing these in the original, are these in addition to those?)
I loved the game, but come on, this is a bunch of fluff.

Try reading the source article. No mention is made of being able to play the deleted scenes. Unless he's getting his source from somewhere else, Hinkle just made that part up.

If only there were more DLC in this game. The Taxidermist wasn't bad, but I wouldn't mind a DLC playing as the "Origami Killer".

Ugly red box. Didn't use the EU/JP cover (the real/better one). This was their chance and blew it.

They worked extra hard to make that box art look even worse.
They should throw a clown in the back hold a rocket launcher too. It will help balance out everything.

Yeah even though if you want the platinum trophy, you're forced to play through every single possible ending, some more than once.

This was an interesting game. I'd love to see the game mechanics used again in another game, just one that didn't have the really large awkward plot holes near the end.

This might actually get me to buy this finally, especially if it ends up on an Amazon sale for $20 or so. I was certainly curious about it, but never saw it cheap enough or missed the good sales on it.

This was one of the few games I've ever 100%'d in a matter of days. Really enjoyed it. Will these deleted scenes include the ones with Madison, Her painting her apartment and her office. There was so much left untouched for her it kinda sucks, I've never scene any actual footage of those scenes so I'm guessing they most likely won't be in it. I'd probably give it another go if they were though.

Anyone else click the link of the article showing the video of the deleted scenes last year, only to see a comment that predicts this Director's Cut, written November 8th, 2010?! or maybe I'm just losing my mind..

They need to start packaging this with Move,
The Move is the perfect accessory for this, as well as this is the perfect accessory to the Move.
After playing with the Move I cannot stand playing with the DS3 it's just so much more immersive with the Move

Huh, other websites aren't reporting that the deleted scenes are playable, seems like only Joystiq is. Perhaps Joystiq got it wrong?

Dont get me wrong, I like the repackage old games, add all DLC, sell it cheaper than original. I just bought the Red Dead repackage after missing it the first time around.
What makes me a little nervous is if we are going down the path of repackaging every AAA title, then I will start turning into that guy that just waits for the repackage to come out, knowing it will be cheaper and complete if I wait till later.
With so many triple AAA repackages this year, there is plenty to do while waiting for more repackages.

@Gratchet What's the big deal with being "that guy"? Honestly it's just smarter. Unless you've been really pining for a game for years, or it has a multiplayer with a community that may not be there long after release, there's really no need to buy stuff day and date.

(For me) the problem is I also like to support some of these AAA titles. These studios live and die by first week sales. If it's a game that is AAA in my eyes, I want to support that company.
But they make it difficult to do when they repackage that game in a more complete form, cheaper, 6-12 months later.
Rockstar is a perfect example. Seems all their games get the repackage. Why should I support them day 1 when I know they gonna hook me up on day 365?

if you play a game 20 times just to get a trophy, then you either like that game veeeeery much, or there is something wrong with you (and i don't mean that as an insult....well, not exactly)
