Still good news. I bet they are saving Alan Wake 2 for the next Xbox (or whatever it will be called).

Not really. I wanted a full length Alan Wake 2. This is disappointing.

Considering Alan Wake didn't sell as well as it could have, I'm just glad to see anything new.

I look at it this way: instead of them announcing Alan Wake 2, we get this game and most likely Alan Wake 2. Two games instead of one.

@Tradio

why? arcade games are getting more and more impressive, but of course there will always be turds like you who consider the announcement of a new arcade title from a promising studio to be "fail". maybe they just don't want to gamble with tons of money and potentially flounder at retail again like they did with the first Alan Wake? can you really blame them for taking it safe? Double Fine has been doing that, and so far they've released a bunch of awesome arcade titles. just chillax...or something.

Any new Alan Wake content is good news. I never understood why the first one wasn't huge hit. It has so much going for it.

Because Red Dead Redemption murdered EVERYTHING else that was released that same day. And anything that came out for about a month after. The oft repeated phrase was "it took the air out of the room."

@Sgt Zeppelin PC Version cancelled, launched against Red Dead Redemption which had the usual guns-a-blazin' Rockstar marketing while Microsoft's marketing was mostly focussed online and viral....

I think the game could have benefitted from a three month delay, launching in August. People are already in that fall mood, and nothing was really launching against it at retail.

Ignoring you replying about their FAIL commenta and ragarding "maybe they just don't want to gamble with tons of money and potentially flounder at retail again like they did with the first Alan Wake?"

Maybe they just want to milk it more before tehy push another out the door?

Also many arcade games these days have rather large budgets, not like the yearly blockbusters but certainly larger than one would expect ever since MS raised the size aloud for XBLA games.

Full games will now fit under that cat that would once have been forced to release on disc. So judging a game by being on XBLA as less than a disc release right now, really doesnt mean anything at all. They are still risking by making it at all.

Testing the water maybe but i havent heard alan wake 2 being pulled, then again it was just a rumor except for the games end. Though i've still not got round to playing it so not 100% sure.

Better than DLC, not as good as a sequel.
Still really looking forward to it, though.

@Tradio, quite frankly, I'm interested to see what they do with the game.

For some reason, I have this feeling it'll be a dual stick shooter with one stick controlling a flash light?

But what do I know? It's probably going to be cart racing.

It's strange to me that they're so adamant about "this is not Alan Wake 2."

So will it be a Nextbox launch title...?

F - Forgot
A - Alan Wake
I - Is
L - Likely to murder you in your sleep with awesomeness

then I accept your comment good sir.

@Younicorn

Now all I can think about is an Alan Wake cart racer where every time you level up you can upgrade your headlights with new powers. When you hit max level you get rainbow headlights that instantly disintegrate all your enemies if they get too close. Also all the character models are the cardboard cutouts from the DLC. I can no longer be satisfied with anything less.

New Alan Wake is a new Alan Wake. This was one of my favorite games. It was so well done if not for the stupid Energizer tie-ins and that dumb commercial (I felt so dirty and used after being duped into watching it). After reading about the poor sales it had I feared I may never get any more Alan Wake, I'm thankful for at least an XBLA title.

Now can we all actually buy a copy of this one and let them know that yes we do actually enjoy this game and yes we would pay you money to make another full retail title. K Thanks =D

Hey guys dont get so down on yourselfs. I believe this will be some type of expansion pack. Well at least i hope. It would be really stupid for microsoft to make it some kind of racing cart game or an rts. i just hope it has the same gameplay and interesting story just like its predecessor. This game was my goty when it came out and enjoyed it as much as i enjoyed uncharted. I believe in terms of story and gameplay these two are in par.

I enjoyed Alan Wake and I like some Arcade games, but the fact that they have to be digital only and often still expensive for what they are, I'm really not digging this. Who knows? Maybe I'll end up buying it and enjoying it, but right now, I dunno.

To be honest, I never really thought Alan Wake needed a sequel though. I thought it stood better alone and that the two DLC packs did it justice to complete the game.

New Alan Wake = YAY!

s long as it improves on the first game, I don't care how they deliver it into my living room. I'm just worried it will be a completely different game like a top down perspective, or a side scroller. If they do that, FAIL!

I may just buy it anyways only to support Remedy, and attempt to convince MS that AW2 needs to happen.
