I better get my special sun glasses from Roddy Piper. This makes me think about the John Carpenter film They Live, which ironically I watched again last week,

Each magazine filled with hidden, hypnotic sub-messages

Look out Game Informer!

Seriously though, this could actually become a significant rival to other gaming mags (already a dying media) *if it's free*.

@Hank Hill

Free is the optimum word here.

Otherwise it will just die a death like @Gamer the Best Buy magazine.

Either way it will probably just be 30 pages of advertorials.

@Hank Hill sarcasm aside, with GI's current subscription rate (only thing higher is AARP thanx to everyone that has a GameStop Pro rewards card) I doubt this makes a dent even if free which is unikely considering its walmart

If you're buying a gaming magazine from Walmart instead of using the myriad of resources available on the net like Joystiq, IGN, etc, then you're probly not the demographic that gaming mags would market toward anyways.

I wonder how the Best Buy mag, @Gamer, is doing in sales. At least that one comes with coupons.

@Lerkero If anything, they have my business. I recently purchased the Gamers Club and with it got $50 toward Uncharted 3 by trading in Resistance 3 and Dead Space 2.

While the writing leaves much to be desired (I've seen better writing on user blogs on IGN), the coupons are great.

It can't be any worse than the revived EGM. Not so sadly I just got my last issue of that POS in the mail.

Don't expect anything miraculous here folks. This is not going to be the next Game Informer, just a contract publication probably styled like an advertorial. It may last a year or two if Walmart doesn't mind bleeding some cash. The tablet version sounds interesting but again if it's EGMi rehashed than the news will be old and stale by the time it is published.
I wish they would focus on EGMnow.com and develop a solid iOS and Android app the way Joystiq has. So far nothing can replace my beloved Joystiq!
