I reckon next year they might see their sales down year over year again due to shitty business style and milking the customers as much as they can,

@Stevetrop Man of Mystery I couldn't agree more. Back when Street Fighter 4 first came out I figured we would just get new characters through DLC, instead of having to buy Super Street Fighter 4. I didn't bother with the AE version. Then they pull the same crap with Marvel Vs. Capcom 3.

These are just a few examples.

Maybe if they release more of their games outside of Japan, they might be able to increase their sales.

HOW LONG MUST I WAIT TO PLAY MONSTER HUNTER PORTABLE 3RD?!?!

It helps nothing they've destroyed the one series that made them a household name. Not Street Fighter either. The Blue Bomber helped raise me, and they just recently destroyed Legends 3. At least give Inafune the rights for Mega Man back. Who knows, maybe he'll put together a team that can create a Mega Man/Zero game that doesn't completely suck, like the rest of Capcom's clusterfark of cash cow milking.

Don't take that 1.2 million expected sales as low for Tri G. As of September 30th, the 3DS has sold about 2.1 million units in Japan. So Capcom is expecting just about 60% of 3DS owners to buy Tri G, if we don't count the systems that Tri G itself will certainly sell.

Just get it to us here in the states as soon as possible, Capcom.

@Suichimo
If 3DS keeps selling ~60,000 a week it will have sold ~2.6 million by that time (about 10 weeks from the September 30th cutoff you used), so that's 44% rather than 60% - as you say, excluding any system sales that happen as a direct result.

Of course it's possible that a good portion of that 60,000 a week are already anticipating the game...

Either way it is not a low expectation. But you also have to bear in mind that they are not talking about week one sales - presumably, in the month or so after it releases including Christmas/New Year, they're also expecting a good portion of those purchasers to get the game. Doesn't seem totally unreasonable... unless the whole Monster Hunter fad has died down a bit by now...?

Yeah, it should do great, and hopefully nature will take its course from there and get more games to the system and localized, I personally have very little doubt that Tri G will be localized.

And yeah, I don't think Monster Hunter's popularity is going to stop any time soon. Portable 3rd released on December 1st last year and within the span of about 7-8 months had sold 4.5 million, by June. With Monster Hunter at the beginning of the console cycle, it should do great.

Well clearly it's the used games market that's responsible. I mean there's obviously no other rational explanation like the quality of games or the fact that all they put out is re-hashes.

or how about you make a proper ps3/360 MH game? or maybe announce an MH for the vita? too obvious for you?
MH is the only one I really want but I'm sure there is more Jap only game that you could bring to other territories to help boost your sales. I don't understand how some companies can be so oblivious to what their customers want.

@(Unverified) All I want is an english language north american version of Monster Hunter Frontier, it's a freakin HD MH MMO

the weirdest thing is, it's on pc and one console, guess which (hint, it's the one that Japanese people don't own, even though the game is only in Japan).

Am I the only one who thinks selling a monster hunter game for a home console that actually has a hardcore player base (as in, not the wii) would end well?

@SteveMcQuark why are you mad? lol, without dedicated video game communities, how do you as a developer improve your game? These games are made for competition, casually or competitively. Things like character balancing, glitches, loops, are exploited by the same community you hate on. Read up on some interviews with people such as Seth Killian or Ono San and you will see how much an influence the fighting game community in particular has had in keeping the fighting game genre. Alive.

This goes to show you, there is a limit on how much you can milk your fan base with endless DLC and re-releases before you actually start to alienate them. I dont feel sorry for their financial status. My hope, is that they become a company for the fans again, and not a company that does absolutely nothing but exploit their fan base.

@DethLocke Sorry, but Capcom has become one of those companies that hates its fans.

"Lets announce Megaman Universe, get the fans excited, then kill it! Next, we'll cancel Mega Man Legends 3! After that we will re-release Street Fighter 4 (arcade edition), and Marvel vs. Campcom 3 (ultimate edition in the same year. I love pissing in the fan's cereal every day!"

That about sums up Crapcom these days.

Much like Nintendos losses .... I really don't care about Capcoms woes.

Both companies have/had games they could have released that I would have purchased day-1 if not pre-ordered and both companies decided to but the breaks on said games.

Not giving the customers what they want .... results in lost profits, who knew?

Not giving to the company that has the power to release the games that won't sell as well is just as counter productive if you think about it.

Here's a thought, Capcom... stop re-re-releasing games, don't cancel Mega Man titles, stop ruining your current big name titles and release Monster Hunter in the West. ???. Profit!

In all seriousness, in the last 2-3 years, all I remember from them are multiple versions of RE5, SFIV and MvC3. Beyond that, not much else besides re-releasing Dead Rising 2. Something these games have in common? Their final versions all being what their initial releases should have been... and there's no reason for it.

That said, MH and Mega Man are far more popular here in the West than Capcom gives credit... that alone is a lot of sales of key franchises. But Capcom just keeps givin' itself the rope to hang itself.

Most of what I remember from Capcom in recent years (I've managed not to buy ANY version of SF4, and I never plan to play a Mega Man game either) is a stream of awesome titles in the Phoenix Wright series...

...which sold really badly... :(

Oh, yeah, and Ghost Trick by the same creators which was similarly awesome...

....and sold really badly. :(

srsly, though, I would pay $50 apiece for those two games if they were properly ported to PS3 with real native HD rendering and higher quality audio. (Unlike the *awful* looking cash-in ports of Resident Evil, No More Heroes, etc.)

I wonder how much their sales would increase if they decided to release Monster Hunter Tri G on the Wii instead of the 3DS, knowing that most of the MHT owners might end up buying it since they already have the system. But seeing as to how Nintendo wants to boost those 3DS sales it does make some sense.
