Interesting. Very Interesting.

So is the Creation Kit being released on day one? Please be so. I want to start off modding Skyrim and playing around with the World. =D

@xiLeShadow Its nice of them to trust us with both selling us official DLC as well as supporting the game through an SDK. Lots of devs are afraid PC gamers will create such great mods with an SDK, they won't want to buy their official DLC and don't release one.

Todd Howard said he wants it to be out day one but it will probably be released near launch.
Here's the link http://www.vg247.com/2011/07/07/creation-kit-release-to-come-at-least-very-close-to-skyrim-launch-says-howard/

I hope the next gen consoles can get mods too, I hate you pc gamers for it./sarcasm

*cough* Crysis 2 *cough*

It really annoys the crap out of me when they do it.

It annoys me even more when they release crap DLC and have crap support for the game when the community could be making it way better, but since they don't have the tools to, they can't.

I don't think consoles will ever have mod tools and mods, esp. with how much publishers are making off DLC.

It is a shame. So many unique amazing things can be created with mod tools. You are the developer and so many people have unique artistically talent, that it makes it so awesome.

A unique take on the same game. =)

@xiLeShadow There are some games that come close like Little Big Planet, or Halo. There are quite a few user created maps in the official Halo Reach matchmaking lists.

The in-game tools for those don't even come close. You are limited to what they give you.

Tools on PC, are almost exactly the same tools, or near them, used by the developers to develop the game.

The Creation Kit was used by Bethesda to develop Skyrim. We can change any part of the game as we wish.

The tools they give you in forge are extensive. About the only thing you don't have access to is the landscape of the map itself.

Little big planet is even more so.

Last I checked, The Witcher 2 sold pretty decently. I bought it at launch from Steam and still haven't touched it, I've yet to finish the 1st. : (

Give us poor PC gamers a chance, don't treat us like garbage and we'll support you!

He's talking about the apparently shit support that some PC games have been receiving because they've become less of priority, this is applicable especially to shooters.

Because Bethesda is a developer and can be easily swayed by the publisher at any time.

Many top dog developers that were once PC-centric developers and were born and made famous because of PC gamers, have turn around and said F-U in development lingo.

A lot of console gamers don't understand this so they call us elitist whenever we worry.

In perspective, imagine Halo, Gears of War, Killzone, or Uncharted were dumbed down to work on the Wii with little effort to improve on the HD editions of the game.

Now imagine all the cool features you got, don't exist anymore. Now imagine, the controls for the game are horrible on a controller because the game was designed from the ground up using the Wiimote.

You just got a little portion of what PC gamers feel.

At least things are getting better now though. I'm not abandoning the PC. It is more favorite gaming platform. Too many perks to it.

@xiLeShadow Exactly, how would console gamers feel if they only got ports from the Wii, tablets and smartphones? And if they complain, those Wii, tablet and smartphone gamers call them "elitist"?

A part of me wants that to happen so they know how we feel.

Bethesda Softworks is the developer.

Zenimax publishes the game under the Bethesda publishing label.

Zenimax is an entity created *by* Bethesda Softworks, founded by the Bethesda founders. It's literally a shell company to allow them to buy other companies.

As katssun said, the founders of Bethesda created Zenimax so that they could focus on creating with Bethesda and use Zenimax for ownership and such.

Look at the case of a Bethesda game it wont have a Zenimax logo on the cover as the publisher, it will have Bethesda.

@nerdydesi1 FWIW, The Witcher had some amazing parts. TW2 was ok but the plot seemed to assume I had read the novels, which I have not.

It was gorgeous to look at but as much as I originally hated the combat in TW1 I grew to love it and TW2 just felt button-mashey.

Does anyone know if Skyim will have level scaling or will it go back to a more traditional style of level progression?

I loved a lot about Oblivion, but toward the end (~level 30) the economy, immersion and believability were totally shattered as every loot-hungry bandit and their mother paraded around in unfathomably expensive armor.

It's supposed to be more of a scaling model more akin to Fallout 3, which I'm OK with.

Sports RPG: take control of a rookie and guide him through an open world of drugs, parties and blackmail sidequests while taking part in daily training sessions so you can win in the big match at the end of the week. Each training session can level you up so if you miss one you have more chance of losing the big game.

Probably work best with boxing so you didn't have to play a 5 hour FP football game every 7 days.

Bethesda needs to stick to their formula - I am almost always entertained by their titles even if there are bugs. We all bitch and moan a lot, but at the end of the day, Bethesda is a developer I look to with excitement each time I hear an announcement.

To comment on the opening salvo...

"smaller, cheaper, more casual"

Those are three words that will make me close my wallet. If the industry heads in this direction, it will be a huge mistake. I've been playing video games since my older neighbor got Pong, and my parents bought me the Atari 2600. For the price of a game these days, the industry needs to realize that a lot of us do expect a good twenty to thirty hours of single player mode. Yea, yea, multi-player this, and multi-player that, but I've read so many complaints and experienced them myself, that I know if the industry thinks that high quality single player campaigns are expendable, they will be in for a world of hurt.

"With the video game industry seemingly headed toward smaller, cheaper, more casual and less complex game experiences, it's somewhat of an anomaly to see Bethesda Game Studios continuing to hit the ball out of the park with games that are the exact opposite:"

Or its not an anomaly at all. You're just wrong.

I asked Hines, in spite of the winning track record on the current core platforms, if Bethesda had any planes for a Facebook or iPad Elder Scrolls game. "Don't hold your breath," he said.

Yes! I love it. Don't dumb down the experience; there is no reason to. I don't know about the whole games going casual trend. It makes me nervous to think that we are going to see shorter and shorter games. Personally, I only buy titles that I'm sure are going to give me a lot of gameplay.

Bethesda, you rule! My favorite game developer, hands down, ever since Oblivion!

Wont be giving bethesda money for this. After all the glitches in its previous games and its lack of support on the PS3. Fck them. They don't deserve my money. How you can release broken games and not give them support after launch AND still have fans is beyond me. Have fun with what probably is another broken game people.

If my comment somehow ruined your Skyrim experience before you have even played it, you should thank me. At least it wont be a game breaking glitch that ruins the experience. Also, i'm sorry you can't seem to swallow the facts about your beloved Bethesda.

I don't want my comments to seem like their games are bad, just their inability to fix glitches that break the game. I would be first in line to buy Skyrim if they had better support. They are too worried about releasing GOTY or anniversary editions to patch a glitch apparently.
