The Simpsons Arcade Game classified in Australia
55
Quarter-consuming favorite The Simpsons Arcade Game appears to finally be making its way to current generation systems. XBLAfans took note of the Australian classification board posting, which states the game is being developed by Backbone (who did the X-Men Arcade port) and published by Konami, so this is definitely not EA's cheap iOS imitation.
Konami told us it had "no information at this time" when contacted for a statement. If Backbone does that same job on Simpsons it did on X-Men Arcade, the title should be well done and available on several platforms.

Backbone. Ugh. Stop ruining old games, dammit.

@Roto13 Oh, yeah, X-Men Arcade is perfect if you like shitty netcode and credit feeding. That's one of Backbone's better ports, really, considering the only other problem that's their fault is the permanently-filtered character portraits and that's not a big deal. Usually their ports are a lot worse.
By the way, the fact that Backbone defenders apparently exist is hilarious.

@Roto13 Glad I'm not the only one who got a little sad when they read the word "Backbone".

I thought EA's Simpsons Arcade was pretty fun, despite shoddy virtual joystick controls. I wouldn't have minded an XBLA/PSN version. This is most welcome news however!

I wish they would pull a Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD with this.
That is, upgrade the graphics to HD, and keep EVERYTHING else the exact same.

Yeah, me too...but it definitely hasn't aged well...with all the complaints for the XBLA TMNT back in the day, I definitely expect to hear people level the same complaints...
That said, I prefer TMNT over Simpsons arcade, but still happy to see it released finally.

This is my favorite arcade game. I've played it so often as a kid that I lost count of how many times I've beaten it. I will definitely pick this up when it comes out.
And speaking of The Simpsons, when is EA going to make The Simpsons Game 2? The first one was pretty good gameplay wise and hilarious story wise.

Awesome!
I live in the UK and I never saw the machine here. But I did play it multiple times when I visited the US and I loved it :D
They had a cabinet for it in the place we got breakfast. My main memories of the place are that it sold AMAZING pancakes and that it had this game. To this day when I think of the Simpsons Arcade I can taste pancakes.
