So...COD dies out after about 3 months and they release one every year in November...sooooo..

I feel as though I'm the only one that see's elite just as the marketing scheme it is and everyone else is glossy-eyed.

We welcome arguments based in reality, but if you're going to troll at least try to have some basis in fact. Xbox Live last week still had Black Ops above BF3, and the two-year-old MW2 in third place just behind that: http://majornelson.com/2011/11/09/live-activity-for-week-of-october-31/
.
The week before, BF3 launch week, actually had MW2 in second place. http://majornelson.com/2011/11/02/live-activity-for-week-of-october-24th/

Soooo, what I'm trying to say is you're wrong. And also banned.

wait, he posts what is his opinion on a service and he gets banned. Joystiq runs an article three days ago called Modern Warfare 3 vs Battlefield 3 obviously it appears the site is okay with fans voicing their opinion on which game and services they favor, obviously this brings in traffic. However when it bad mouths a game/service the author obviously favors the poster is banned? How come I never see mods over in the Battlefield stories banning the kids that come in with "OMG MW3 IS SO MUCH BETTER HAXXORZ U MAD BRO" comments.

I would also like to point out that Battlefield 3 is available across three platforms. So sighting xbox360 numbers is irrelevant because the system has always been the "home" of the call of duty series. If you want to quote the number of players then please include the PS3 and PC counts as well. It is a well known fact that the PC is the "home" of the Battlefield series.

I would be making this same statement if this was a Battlefield 3 thread that stated Battlefield 3 was out performing on the PC vs the consoles. People online are too quick to accuse someone of being a troll for disagreeing with them. Its called life, you put out a story or opinion online for thousands to see,not everyone is going to agree with you. Welcome to the big boy world.

anyways I await the eventual down vote by the mw3 kiddies and the eventual ban because I felt to voice my opinion against the author. so stay classy and I'll see you around.

MW3 is also available on all 3 platforms that BF3 is on. I never got the memo that the Call of Duty series's home is on the xbox, nor the one about BF3's being the PC. I still thought people bought games for their system of preference...For example I own a 360, wii, PS3, and a very nice computer, but because I prefer playing games mostly on my 360, unless it's an exclusive, it gets bought for my 360. So "citing" those numbers are not irrelevant as you may think.

Do I prefer MW over battlefield? Well, seeing as I only have had the opportunity to play BF1, yet I've played all the post CoD4 games, yes I think I do prefer it. However, I would like to think that I'm not biased about it. I'm sure BF is a great series, and eventually I will get around to it, but until then I won't badmouth it either. With that being said Slomoshun was trolling. Poking fun/bad mouthing a series based solely on his opinion and not by fact, which is why he was banned. Hence why Chris said "We welcome arguments based in reality, but if you're going to troll at least try to have some basis in fact."

If you learned to read, you'd see that he was banned for saying "COD dies out after about 3 months"

Then Chris proved how wrong his statement was.

It wasn't his opinion that got him banned- it was his false facts spouting that did.

wow not only can't you reply without insulting someone you don't even know what an opinion is. "I bet MW3 dies out within 3 months." that is the opinion and speculation. Chris posted a counter argument with evidence to support his opinion that it won't. Then banned him before he could respond.

What type of draconian system is in place if you ban someone for speculation. Following your train of thought you could say MW3 will sell 50,0000 million copies. Now following your logic I could ban you from the forums when its revealed it sold 50,0001 copies. Because by your argument I was in the right and you where in the wrong.

you are aware that digital sales through Origin aren't tracked correct? I'm sure you're also aware of the growing trend of digital download games through Steam and Origin both of which are not tracked via NPD numbers probably made up 90% of the sales.

The concept of what COD Elite is, stats, competitions, clan stuff and DLC's is necessary.

Charging money for it(DLC's exempt)is not necessary.

You know - another good point of the Elite service is that I can purchase that for my son for Christmas - and it's the gift that keeps on giving. I don't have to hear him begging me for map pack money all year... lol If you subtract the cost of a few map packs from the initial cost, it is really not that much more to be able to access some neat features. He also told me it came with some characters or something like that. From a parent's perspective, the Elite service sounds like it is worth it... just sayin'. lol

If the COD Elite service enables a way for me to do that, I'm in. =D

My company practically blocks most things game-related now including the entire COD website. So I can only access stuff that is mirrored to Youtube or Facebook.

j/p....have we figured out yet what exactly $50/yr gets us besides clan support and other exclusive competitive MP opportunities + map packs?

Not trolling, just trying to understand this. (Please no ban-hammer, chris!)
But what is the value of a 13th month of Elite Service, if no DLC is released in that month?

Also, if I sign up for Elite Service at the end of the month, do I have 3 more weeks of the service than people who got it at launch?

Is it going to be possible to extend the service?

Ahh, here is the breakdown I was looking for, cause I'm a bit of a ra-tard:

http://www.callofduty.com/elite/whats-included

But I still feel like the core of the value of the Elite service is DLC, and without DLC coming out on that 13th month the value of their consolation offering drops pretty significantly, IMO.

@Dizazter Yeah, it's the compete features, notably clan support, that would be extended. Also access to the programming, like tournaments, video shows, and stuff like that. Not for everyone, but if you're getting $60 worth of DLC for $50, it's a nice value add.

Well, not to me, not from that perspective anyway, because:

$50 / 12 = $4.17
$50 / 13 = $3.84
Difference = $0.33

Or you could also say 1 month of service is worth $4.17, so they just gave us an extra $4.17.

Yeah I hear what your saying.
It gets tricky with this new DLC sevice concept, for the less hardcore players, we're having to kinda prospect here on what kind and how much DLC content will come out. For instance, I'm more into the Spec Ops Coop/Survival stuff than the versus multiplayer, and I have no idea if any or how many coop maps will come in the DLC.
I'll probably just accept that I'm not 1337 enough for the Elite Service. :(
