Might as well only $20 more than the regular edition.

An extra $60 for an artbook and a soundtrack?

Whatever makes you tick....

After that last couple games this Collector's Edition should be free for the fans who stuck through with the series.

@shimrra74 Ya, it should be a free upgrade to collectors with pre-order just like Assassin creed revolution. Anyways willing to take a chance with FF13-2 deserves it.

I m probably going to wait 6 months when the game drops to 29.99 before i pick up a copy. Thats how long it took me to beat the original game,after buying it at release. (because I got sick of it at the beginning of chapter 12).

After 9 / 10 / 11 / 12? certifiable hits, two or three mediocre / awful titles is forgivable IMO.

Indeed. I'll never forgive them for FFCC: The Crystal Bearers. I thought FFXIV was PRETTY. ...and that's it. FF13 had beautiful music and visuals, but...ugh.....

I think I might pass on this CE - the soundtrack for XIII wasn't very listenable.

Have to pool the money, as there are more deserving titles in 2012 to warrant the extra money for a CE purchase.

@Kagiroi

Really? Wasn't listenable? I thought it was great; a nice mix of super epic OMG boss fight songs, mixed with more ambient-like songs and the random wtf song (the chocobo theme).

I was already planning on getting XIII-2; might pick the CE after I read reviews on the soundtrack (if its mostly rehashes from XIII no point in me getting it as I already bought XIII's soundtrack)

I apologize. By listenable, I mean outside of the game environment. I found that I really couldn't pop in the XIII soundtrack and listen to it while, let's say, working on my car. I need to be playing the game for the music to make sense.

It's different for each person. For me, games like the YS series, Castlevania, Mega Man, and BEMANI games have listenable music - while games like the Tales series, Zelda, and most Final Fantasy albums - not so much.

I see where your last comment was coming from. I also have some tracks from the OoT soundtrack and nothing's as random as the lost wood's theme playing in the middle of a playlist XD

@Morisato13

My fave has to be Eden Under Siege. I like that its a slower version of Eidolons which makes it sound even more epic ;D

I also like Daddy's got the blues; mainly because its got a Cowboy Bebop vibe

I'll pre-order it just for the soundtrack. Now when are those retailers going to add this lovely product to their stores?

But it's the sequel to one of the most boring RPG's of all time... a game that in no way, what-so-ever, required a sequel.

If anything, Square-Enix should be giving this game away for free as an apology for such a crap game!

The game started boring, then got better and better. I understand not sticking to it, since it had some serious issues, but when a game ends strongly, I say give it a sequel and make it better than the first game every chance you get.

It was the best selling Final Fantasy to date, I believe... So yeah, a sequel kind of was required from a business perspective.

I look forward to seeing the sequel sales numbers. That'll truly show if people whining on the internet means anything.

I hated FFXIII. (Loved all the previous ones, even XII while different was capable) If you took out the production value and looked just at the gameplay, it was a shitty RPG you'd expect to see from the PS1 era. Seriously. However, like I said, there's little logic in saying that no sequel was required.

Hell, even though I hated XIII, I might give this a try if they correct the incredible flaws from the first game. There were things to like in it, after all. It was just poorly thought out.

@Mmmmz

I was more speaking from a gamer's perspective and not from a business perspective. Anything with "Final Fantasy" in the title will sell - Crystal Chronicals for Gamecube sold... But yeah, you're comments are bang on.

I think I speak more from frustrating disappointment then true hate. The music was annoying, half the characters were annoying (which is sad, because the other half were pretty good), the story was bland, the gameplay was too linear until the last 40% of it, at which point I was just so bored... I could go on.

But my fellow joystiq'rs downvoted - so I must be in the minority - most people must have loved it.

Personally, I'll just keep hoping the next Final Fantasy is a true return-to-form for Square Enix.

Oh wow, actual disc-ass OSTs. Definitely worth the extra $20 since the actual soundtracks cost more than the damn game sometimes. Also, I'm a sucker for artbooks.

Step one to making me love Final Fantasy again: bring back Amano, FULL TIME (that's also the next 8 or 9 steps, before we start replacing writers).

DOP.

FFXIII may have not been the best FF game, but it is in my top 3 best FF soundtracks.

I'm very much looking forward to FFXIII-2, especially for the soundtrack.

Seeing that it's not a shooter, I doubt it. It seems to be more of a traditional book binding style. Now that's classy.

Tempted to get the novella from best buy, but i'm waiting to see what the new skin for Sarah looks like.

amazon will be the cheapest version though, due to no sales tax. Decisions decisions.

A lovely set, and finially using classic artwork akin to Japanese releases, but I have to be hesitant considering the source material.

Crap, now I've got to play through FFXIII (have it, but haven't tried it). Novella, artbook (with AMANO work!), and mega-soundtrack. Heck, they last one's got me grabbing KOFXIII!

I hope I'll like FFXIII better than my friend did. Heck, I liked FFX-2, so...

I finished 13 and promptly sold it on ebay. I was not impressed with it. I will get this game when it drops to the 10-20 dollar range. Games hit $20 in 6-12 months this gen. That said, I would wait an unlimited amount of time for the price drop.

I've been a FF fan since the early 90's, but I won't be fooled into buying this game until well after the reviews are in and the price has dropped...although that collectors edition is sweet! NO, if you fool me, you can't get fooled again!

Nothing wrong with that, you're just planning for the future. It's like people who buy baby stuff before they even have a baby.

And if it really is that "limited", at least you won't have missed out.

I have no idea if this is worth getting because for starters, I have no idea what the music's like. I didn't know I was interested in the soundtrack for FFXIII until I'd played most of the game itself.
