All I know is I'm not watching an Asteroids movie if it doesn't have Bruce Willis as a lead actor.

Hi, I'm posting from your new Joystiq Time Travel app in 2013 just to let you guys know Asteroids is a box office smash and has swept the Oscars (including Best Picture, sorry Indiana Jones 5). AND Asteroids has won several GOTY award, becoming the first GOOD movie tie-in game!

First good movie tie-in game?

...Batman NES, Aladdin Genesis, Aladdin SNES, Toy Story, Goldeneye N64, Goldeneye Wii et al say "hello".

Good movie tie-in games are rare, yes, but not non-existent.

@I am a machineee: I suppose you're right, Lion King was pretty fun too. As far as it's GOTY status goes, I was pretty upset the FFVII remake AND KH3 didn't win. Just stiff competition!

ARMAGEDDON is the 'best' ASTEROIDS movie I've seen. Even if it was just... one... asteroid. But it had Bay-xplosions and Liv Tyler, so, yay!

Opening credits then the ship flies straight into the first asteroid. Fin.

I can't help but think that turning Asteroids into a twin-stick shooter is missing the point of Asteroids. I know having to face both where you want to aim and where you want to go is remarkably clunkier, but that IS Asteroids, dammit.

I'm really hoping that this at least turns out to be one of those so-bad-it's-almost-good movies

@MEMgrizzlies7
I'm hoping that this turns out to be one of those things that fades into nothingness.

Ugh... An Asteroids movie? Really? I just saw a list of a whole bunch of 2012 movies the other day, and half of them were unneeded sequels.... It seems like they're running out of ideas. I could come up with plenty of good movie ideas in my sleep, so why can't the professionals do even better?

Well, if this movie really goes ahead, it better have Michael Bay directing it. Don't get me wrong - I can't stand him - but at least all the explosions will make up for the lack of anything else.
