I still think LA Noire had the best season pass. Even though a discount is good, paying for something twice seems odd.

All the season passes work the same as L.A. Noires. The ones with other games have just been advertised that you pay less by buying the season pass rather then the individual DLCs.

I was on the edge of the cliff wondering should I op to get it now or wait a tad bit.

The rope of DLC dragged me away from the cliff and made me look toward the future of they goty version

Have fun playing it next year. Maybe if you got a promotion at work, you could afford the extra $30. I know times are tough.

I haven't been keeping up on this whole "season pass" shenanigans.

So, you pay to get discounts?

@Diet Kane

No, you get a discount for paying up front. For example, buying all the DLC individually might cost $30, but the season pass might cost $25, so you're saving money if you were going to buy all the DLC anyway.

You are, in virtually all implementations thus far, buying all of the DLC upfront and receiving a discount for your generous pledge.

@Diet Kane Don't feel bad, neither has Joystiq, they covered this in July and forgot. :)

http://www.joystiq.com/2011/07/11/saints-row-the-thirds-hyper-ordinary-pre-order-pack-is-madne/

A full detailed listing of what is in the Season Pass was just released and that's actually new information, but we've known about the existence of the Season Pass itself for a while.

Hell, the linked Joystiq article is how I was able to place an order in time to be one of the first 3000 preorders that got the season pass for free. Thanks, Joystiq!

(You should probably change this article's title though, it's pretty inaccurate... and also kind of nonsensical..? They're not announcing that there are going to be multiple season passes or anything.)

I can see it potentially being confusing, but the joke is a play on "The Third" - no serious implication that there will be more passes

Pre-order the game from THQ website to get the Pass for free.

I've been playing the game and it's ridiculous fun! I'm not about to start any wars with GTA, but damn Saints Row should definitely be right up there next to it in fun factor, if not better.

The story, characters, and cutscenes are great -- Zimos is freakin' funny. I had to get the limited edition for the voice vocoder headset because of him. I know it doesn't work on XBL straight out the box, but I have a Turtle Beach x11 that has 3.55mm plugs so I am able to get it to work for LIVE.

There is a decent selection in the soundtrack, and the voice work really sets this game above and beyond. I'm playing as a female and Laura Bailey really knocks it out the park.

I've only played Saints Row on the 360, but I have always thoguht the controls were great. I love being able to turn on a dime, and everything just feels like it works right, to me at least. Then again, it can all be a matter of opinion.

Just like how some people think Saints Row is way too immature and over the top, For me, that's the selling point. It's always fun to play a game that doesn't take its self seriously every once in a while.

All of these sound like the names of things they've shown off in the trailers (gimps and pimps especially). Still excited for the game itself but a tiny bit worried they're pulling an LA noire and sectioning off pieces of the actual game to sell to me later. That doesn't mean i won't be dumb and buy them, because they sound fun....

I guess this is a thing now.

15% is not nearly enough savings for me to want to download a season pass or subscription. It should be 20% at least.

If I'm only saving 15% I would rather buy whatever pieces I want and chances are I would automatically save 15% or more by not buying the content that doesn't interest me.

Something more like 25%-40% would definitely catch my interest. The L.A. Noire DLC Pass was good for what you paid for.

But that doesn't change games like Uncharted 3 and Gears 3 season passes. Perceptually, it's weird to pay twice.

They must think we're stupid. Why should we buy something in advance, even with the slight discount, if we don't know how good it's going to be? Even the best games can have awful DLC.

@Spacegrass

To be fair at least they told us up front what we're paying for. With Gears* and Uncharted we don't know what exactly we're getting with the season pass, meaning we could just end up paying for a bunch of multiplayer skins. That obviously isn't the case at this point, but it's impossible to tell how much of what we're getting with those two games.

*Not to sure about Gears someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I've got the game preordered and everything, but I can't say that I have that much faith in their missions that I'd want to pay out for DLC of them. Hopefully they'll prove me wrong by the time I'm actually playing the game, but I'm not about to jump in blind

I refuse to support cynical DLC. If you had any self-respect, you wouldn't either.

DLC is OPTIONAL so who are you to tell people if they should feel good about spending their own money?

Not sure if you've paid any attention to the trailers or the reviews, but the game packs more than enough on-disk content. It's not like the DLC is on-disk or release-day DLC.

Also, since the game has a Season Pass, it's incredibly unlikely they'll ever release a "Complete Edition." So have fun missing out on Saints Row The Third.

Saints Row is not a game that, to me, is ever going to get a Complete/Ultimate/SuperDuper Edition just because of its nature. LA Noire, Red Dead, Skyrim make sense because there is content important enough to the game to get that kind of treatment. Or maybe I'm just justifying canceling my THQ order in favor of Amazon and their $10 credit.

remember when a season pass cost $10. i really like the idea of a season pass but when its $20-$40 there asking a lot. depending on what the content actually is, i might be better off eventually waiting for it to go on sale.
