joke all you will about how long it will take....I am calling 2013 on PS3. With GT5 they started over from scratch, AFTER having it up and running for release on the PS2 if I remember correctly. Now that they already have the framework. 2013 sounds about reasonable. with the exception of GT 5 the other GT games where 2-4 years apart usually

please no, they are doing a great job on expanding the GT5 experience. i don't remember a single console game, that did receive so much FREE new content, besides burnout paradise

@jsx92 my guess is they will make most all of the cars "Premium" with GT6. If not I'm not sure if will sell from the name alone. Forza keeps getting better and better. Even Forza games sales numbers can't touch Gran Turismo games, it could very easily get there soon if Polyphony doesn't start paying more attention to what younger generations want

@foxhound they said they are going to be giving more DLC around every 2 months during the same interview. Not sure why that's not included in this article aside from them just wanting to take a jab at the length of development time.

@Chris DPSN AggieCEO XBLThe Aggi Trouble is, GT5's framework isn't very good. Too many menus with too much loading (and installing) between them before you can even get into a race. I don't want fewer options, but I want all my options presented in a less cumbersome way.

I agree with this. every gen gets a bare GT (1, 3, 5) and a beefed GT not too long after (2, 4, and eventually 6)

@Mike Sylvester the menus and load times can all be fixed. I mean load times have already improved through patches, why wouldnt they get better next go around?

it has nothing to do with "what younger generations want" It has to do with the fact that they finally have real competition from a capable dev.
Like a lot (obviously not all, hello nintendo) japanese developers, they seem to have really puttered out this gen.

Ummm no, they didn't exactly start from scratch because there were lots of recycled assets and shortcuts they took. I can't see this coming on PS3, given how relatively soon PS4 will be out. At most I can see this as a launch title to make it a system seller. Remember PS3's launch? (shudders)

GT5 runs in true 1080p @60FPS and looks just gorgeous since they patched the shadows (well, unless you have one of the ugly standard cars in front of you, but there aren't that many real ugly ones)

some time after release? don't know what patch it was, and they are still far from perfect, but at least not that blocky mess we got at release

Lol you guys are jerks I for one have been playing GT5 since release and have enjoyed every second of if. Can't wait for Gran Turismo 6 this series is the reason I own a ps3. I also have an Xbox and I don't play Forza although it is a good game but my time is valuable.

after buying every Gran Turismo game within the first month of release I can say that I was disappointed with GT5s depth. They need to add more to GT Life other than buy car, upgrade car, race, buy another car.... Maybe have limited number cars or something? everyone has the same cars and im tired of 3245 different models of Nissan cars when there are tons of cars that should be in the game that arent. If they do a GT6 it needs to be way off and not some stupid UI revamp of GT5 Prologue.
But thats just my opinion.

You can add any music you want to gt5. I liked some of the stock music, and some I didn't, but it was all too easy to throw my own mp3's in there so that's something they really got right. As for more exciting menus, I sure hope not. If anything I want the menus less exciting. More linear, more boring, faster loading. Not ridiculous menu layouts designed for a computer mouse that have to contact PSN in between every menu item.

I guess if you consider customization work then that's true, but the alternative is appealing to the lowest common denominator and licensing music that's just popular. So if you want a racing game full of Britney Spears and Limp Bizkit then be my guest, but I sure hope they leave me the option of deleting all that.

You... don't keep up with music these days, do you?
Personally, the best racing soundtracks were found in the PGR series. Mind.In.A.Box and Covenant, two of my favorite bands, were found on those soundtracks.
