Resistance 3 patch adds new maps, tweaks performance and Move functionality
17
Insomniac Games tweets that it's patching Resistance 3 today with a free update that will bring two new maps to the game. Patch 1.05 will add a sixteen player map called Creek and a four player map called The Granary to the title, both available to players for free after the patch is downloaded and installed.
The patch also adds performance updates, improved team balancing, and makes sure that players who have hit level 60 can now unlock any and all equipment and abilities. There's also a tweak to make the Leaper Corpse a little easier, and Move functionality has been tweaked to work better.

An awesome addition to a very underrated game. Its ridiculous how little this game sold, when its as great as it is.

@jackdan594 I quite liked R:FoM, but felt let down a bit by R2. I thought the first level of R2 was incredible (up to and including the helipad/kraken fight), but that it kind of fell apart from there with a fairly weak narrative and disjointed level progression.
How do you feel R3 stacks up to R2 and FoM?

Resistance 3 is much more like Fall of Man, its got that awesome atmosphere that Resistance 2 was missing, and the weapon wheel works better than it did it FoM. R3 Multiplayer is just awesome, the lowered player count made it better, and the story itself is much deeper and emotional than it ever was with Hale.

i still havent played this yet even though i own the Doomsday bundle. First, the move controller bundled was faulty. So i returned the thing and waited for a replacement coz i wanted to play with the sharpshooter. When i got the sharpshooter thing to work, came another prob. A big one. My PS3 suddenly YLOD. I havent game for more than a month already, waiting for my ps3 to be repaired. I'm gonna switch to slim as soon as it's repaired. What luck i have. Now im gonna miss a lot of those awesome games coming out.

Based off of your preference, yes you should...simply because R3 is more similar to R1 than R2. But I find it odd for you to be a "huge" Resistance fan and felt let down by R2 as a whole. I loved part one and had to get accustom to R2, the change and feel to online was immense. Once I got wired in, it was easily better than R1...in fact the loss of Co-op multiplayer in R3 a la R2 was something that I was really displeased to hear. I played R3 strictly for the story and enjoyed every moment of it.

Yes! I didn't care for Resistance 2 and love Resistance 3. I'm also a Fall of Man fan.

I wish this had come out earlier in the year, perhaps in the mid-Summer. I would've had a chance to give it more attention than now.

"Resistance 3 patch adds new maps...."
Remember when this was the norm??
Now they charge you for every square inch of every map. I want to go back in time now.

@xiLeShadow It's only this way today because of content distribution policies on console online gaming networks and how people are used to paying for downloadable content on those platforms by now. On the PC, a lot of games (especially the smaller-name ones) still have free content updates alongside cosmetic, optional DLC. Killing Floor to name an example, releases an update now and then with a new map and a character pack.
I'm not opposed to paid DLC, I just find it ridiculous that map packs can cost $15 and nobody will bat an eye, when ten or so years ago a lot of games released with more content, flexibility in mods and user-generated content, and free updates from time to time. Having maps priced in packs and for such a high cost doesn't seem to make sense to me. From what I can tell it can only serve to segregate the user base into haves and have-nots.

Sorry, game is horrible. Single player is short and easy. The co-op is the same as single player. No co-op like in R2, but they are working on it so you can pay extra for it later.
Multiplayer is seriously bad. Very very boring.

As modern FPSs games go, this is one of the best in recent years. Much better than COD and BF, who steal all the recognition from these other deserving titles.

@imtheman It's easy? Do difficulty levels not exist anymore? Also, short? It's just as long as anything else in the genre. The co-op I agree on but at the same time it was nice to be able to play through the campaign with a friend so that was a trade-off. Multiplayer is great. Feels a lot like Resistance 1 with improvements. I don't mind someone disliking this game, but calling it horrible is quite the stretch.
