@Doppel A Draconius mka Aguiluz

That is breaking news, seeing how you couldn't pay me to play Champions Online.

I downloaded for free and still playing/enjoying it whenever I take a break from Rocksmith. I just hope that enough people are paying so we can get more servers.

I want to get it, but with a 25 GB/week bandwidth limit, I can't afford the 18 GB download I understand this game has.

@gordogg24p

25/GB a week and you can't handle using 18GB at once... not downloading more then 7 other gig in a week is not hard.

@gordogg24p

If companies who provide content on the web want to keep raking in the moneys they should really be investing in fighting bandwidth capping tooth and nail.

Otherwise the whole "I can't really justify giving your free product a whirl because my bandwidth cap etc etc" is just going to become more and more common.

Whats extra sad is while the rest of the world is moving away from BW caps NA seems to be regressing back to them .......

@This Little Man Says His Name Is

The point is I'm not willing to sacrifice my usual online activity just to download this, even if it is free. And 18 GB is a little bit ridiculous anyway.

I was going to take a spin at it on PC. DCUO should keep me busy during these coming winter months.

They're no longer gonna charge me an extra 5 dollars for being Australian, as an offering to their god of Arbitary Gouging?

Hmm, I might have to finally give it a try

Registering for an account =/= regular player, as we learned from Second Life's ridiculously inflated user numbers. This announcement would be much more impressive if they included the mean or median hours played per user per week. Since they didn't, I assume that a large percentage of those 1 million people registered, played for a little bit, then quit.

if people had the disc version of this game then they will always have the Premium F2P all the time instead of the normal F2P. I played it and liked it .. but the thing is .. i can't stand running the same alerts over and over and over for new gear or better ger ETC ETC ... i just wanna do storyline stuff but i got all that done when i got my platinum back in .. ( i believe ) May ? anyways.

i remember when everyone was saying i'l never pay to play this ! now it's free. i'l never download all 18 GB cause of the cap ! download half now then Half next month then !

It didn't work for me for the first week, but now it's more stable and I'm enjoying it. I bought the Green Lantern DLC the other day, so now I'm Premium for life. I probably won't bother to go Legendary, though. Monthly fees are why I don't play MMOs in the first place.

I think the Subway promotion helped too. I had an account I setup last year in anticipation for this. But Subway had codes for a free month of Legendary. But in order to get said free month you had to sign up for a NEW account....I wonder how many accounts were started for that.

I signed up for a new account (since sony seems to have disabled my old SWG account) and I gotta say I can see why they had to go f2p.

This game offers nothing that city of heroes or champions online didn't offer years ago, other than the poorly utilized (imo) DC license. Combat is quite boring and repetitve, and the servers are cluttered due to the influx of new users.

Just my 2 cents.

"But asking them to stop by is different than having them stick around. "

Indeed joystiq indeed. I wonder how many customers will be retained 3 months from now, and how many will actually buy something on the marketplace.

Is it 18GB for the PC version or something? Because I downloaded the PS3 version and it was only around 14GB

@CrowDieSlow

The PC version has some interface modules the ps3 version doesn't to make it a better keyboard & mouse experience.
