@Master Troll Game isn't built for handhelds, anyways. Definitely a couch 'n controller experience.

@NekoDaimyo Yes, because Nintendo decided to release one of the top five games of the year, Zelda: Skyward Sword, on a dead console.

Why? Mario Kart Wii was great. And you know there will be Mario Kart for Wii U as well - so if you really insist on only playing home console games, that's something to genuinely look forward to.

I was going to complain about Super Mario 3D Land being both too short and too easy, but I just got started on the special levels. Now that I'm there, I think this is the best 3D mario ever made.

That's one of my least favorite things about Mario Kart: working hard to attain first place, only to be struck by a blue shell and passed with the finish line in sight. On the other hand, it's quite exciting and satisfying when you're the one doing the passing. :D

I'm usually pretty satisfied with the incremental advances in the Mario Kart franchise, and this one is no exception. I welcome the lessened hassle of friend codes with the online communities.

Definitely looking forward to it, though, like you said, a track creation tool with a level sharing portal is the dream I hope will be realized on the Wii U at least.

@DekuTree I heard you can only have one option at a time with Communities, according to IGN. Not sure if they didn't find out how but if it's true it's a bit disappointing. You also have to enter a community code but you only have to do that once so it's not that bad.

That's true. You apparently can't disable single items, only all or none.. A bit of a let-down, since you had those option in SSB: Brawl.

@Bumper There is no 3DS XL...I personally don't think there needs to be...and I'm not sure how a Zelda 3DS bundle answers his dreams of a bigger 3DS, because the Zelda 3DS is exactly the same size.

@Nook Unless they make the games worse, which is what they had been doing..

Cutting back on complexity, super fast recovery from falling it's almost like you didn't fall at all.. Item spam and first place NEVER gets anything other than bananas and green shells (try SNES Mario Kart, anything is possible).

Tracks have gotten ridiculously large .. All in all, it can be summed up in the notion that it's been made more casual...

When skill is thrown out the window of favor of sheer luck (a little bit of that is okay, but not a shit ton like Mario Kart Wii), then my disappointment is difficult to hide.

Anyway, I hope this one is more like the DS game and less like the Wii one.

I liked the item bias in the older Mario Karts. It kept things close enough that you didn't rage quit just from reaching last. Although not easy, you could still win the race. I also loved that it didn't give computer players magical bursts of speed when you're way ahead of them. (Well, magical meaning non-mushroom related)

I still find the value of a game like Modnation Racers to be higher than Mario Kart, yes it is a kart racing game that uses many features that MK features but it built on them extensively, specially the creative customization of the karts and the tracks. My value.

I agree with you, mostly for the item balance and custom tracks. I feel like the way items and boost meter were handled in MNR works to solve the very issue the article complains about, although I do feel it can be improved upon still.

I still think the SNES version is the best, although the GBA and DS ones are good too.

In Double Dash, I always had the character combination of Diddy Kong and Bowser Jr. So what happened was when I became first, I received nothing but regular bananas, rows of bananas, and the giant banana. Let it be known that no race track has never been spammed so much in my life.

I pity the foo who isn't first.

Mario Kart lost it's luster (for me, still a good game) as soon as they allowed cheating as badly as they do. Once in a while, sure. But at the very least allow us to customize the races more. They threw in a lot of fan service for the Wii version, but it just wasn't fun enough due to their "fairness".

It's a racing game, after all. Not Twisted Metal Mario, or World Peace: Let's Race!
