Scribblenauts Remix overtakes Angry Birds on App Store
26
Turns out it takes more than repeated blunt force trauma to the head to take down an Angry Bird. Nope, it takes smarts, something that the wordy Scribblenauts Remix has in abundance. As of this writing, the puzzler has overtaken Angry Birds and occupies the number one spot on the iTunes App Store.
Of course, while we're sure braininess helps, that recent $0.99 discount might have had something to do with it too.

If you have an iPad this is a no brainer at 99 cents.

Hey, kids! Remember how Scribblenauts was a great concept that was mercilessly shackled to game-breakingly-bad controls? Well now the gameplay is even worse ....

I own this game on the DS and now iOS...I can assure you the controls are a non-issue. It's vastly superior to the first game for sure.
In fact, while Super Scribblenauts has the best controls, I prefer typing on the iOS version. Also, since it includes all the levels from the first Scribblenauts game it's kind of the best of both worlds.

It's not that uncommon for games to overtake Angry Birds, not sure why this is news...

Those birds really are angry this time.

So did Zombieville USA 2, which is an incredible game. You didn't write about that, come on Rich.

Totally! I love Zombieville USA 2. I just can't stop playing it.
I did pick up Scribblenauts Remix the same day. Perfect for mid day work breaks.

I'd rather mess around on the title screen of Scribblenauts than play Angry Birds. And I'm not even being a douche, the title screen of Scribblenauts is like a playground. Hella fun.

@Roto13 *high five* I own both of the DS games, yet even though I beat both--never got around to buying the app--so much time was spent fooling around pretending to defend myself against a horde of fast vampires, giving elephants weapons, etc.
So much fun...personally, it's way more fun the game itself.

Is that a screenshot of an account that owns Scribblenauts and not Angry Birds?
So much wrong with that picture. The controls and gameplay in Scribblenauts is awful. I can't believe how much this site hyped that game up only to have it fall flat on every device it has been on.

This game is better than Angry Birds, so no surprise there.

There's LOTS of games better than Angry Birds that will never have a hope of getting past Angry Birds, so this actually is a surprise. Typically the kind of people that shop off the top ten apps are not the kind of people that can recognize a good innovative game. Having said that, I'm sure happy to see this at the top cause it does deserve it more. And that's not something you see often on the app store.

I agree, while applications such as Angry Birds continue being the most popular applications on smartphones, more practical applications are slowly but surely coming available. A brand new application called Winter Survival Kit aims to obtain the kind of survival info that can help save drivers' lives. Source of article: Survival apps filling an emergency niche
