@Faenix - You're not missing much. Sadly, Crazy Taxi doesn't really hold up in 2011.

@Faenix
this version of Crazy Taxi sucks with low resolution and funny UI aspect ratio compared to other DC Collection re-makes. I heard it's a port from PSP version, not from DC or PS2. you aren't missing much.

Outrun Online Arcade is being pulled from XBLA in December. Sega lost the Ferrari license so it has to go. It will remain in your account if you buy it before that. If you're on the fence you should buy it while it's $5.

Be advised, the one major downside of Crazy Taxi on XBLA (and Steam) is that they didn't bother getting the licenses from The Offspring and Bad Religion again for the soundtrack, nor the licenses to include real-world locations like KFC, Pizza Hut, or the now defunct Tower Records. As a result you're dashing through streets with generic garage band music to generic locations, making the game feel... Generic.

I hope one day they put out a proper re-release of Crazy Taxi, but this isn't it. The only thing they got right was at least allowing widescreen. I'm surprised they did that much.

Both the 360 and PS3 version support custom soundtracks so not only could you play the original Offspring and Bad Religion songs if you have them, you could also play some of your own music if you like.

If the lack of in-game advertising and late-'90s punk rock is keeping Crazy Taxi from greatness, then it just wasn't so great of a game anyways.

I've had my fun with it, but it just hasn't held up all too well to be honest - and it has absolutely nothing to do with the music or advertising.

I remember a couple years back, people were up in arms about in-game advertising. Now people complain about it being stripped out of the game.

If I didn't already get the Genesis games for free with PS Plus, I'd be all over this sale. Anyone have a recommendation on the XBLA side of things?

Streets of Rage 2 for me. I might even pop on Outrun since it'll be pulled in december like a previous poster said. Crazy Taxi is on that DC disc and I'm sure I'll find that for

Or you could buy Sonics Genesis collection for 20 or less and get Streets of Rage 2, Comix Zone, Golden Axe, and like 20 more games.

After Burner Climax is one of the most underrated titles out there (it also has custom soundtracks, so you can throw on some Minmay and/or Sharon Apple and half-way pretend like you're playing a Macross game that doesn't suck).

Actually, that sounds like a plan. I remember playing the original AFTERBURNER games in the arcades, hopefully this one is similar. Perhaps with custom soundtrack on PS3?

Bah, I'll buy it at that price regardless.

@Softserve Apparently it was taken off PSN long ago. That's odd, I could of sworn I saw it in the store recently. Must be nuts.

Was waiting for Crazy Taxi to go on sale - no way I'd pay full price for a few memories :)

Ashame Daytona isn't on sale... granted, it just dropped a couple weeks ago, so maybe it'll be on sale during Xmas week.

Also, I fully recommend Afterburner - I purchased it when it was last on sale and had a blast.

I guess I'll buy Outrun just because it's getting taken off the Marketplace. It'll be worth something on eBay later, right?

As cool as this is, I already has the Genesis/Mega Drive classics from Playstation Plus, and I prefer to play retro games on their original console.

Finally got an original copy of Crazy Taxi today. I think it holds up fine. I even found the arcade machine at an airport nearby last year. The game is still tons of fun, if only because it's silly, and the original music is really catchy, even if it isn't all that good.
