Actually, the name in itself rocks, when you think about it. Gratz to the happy family !

The father severed the umbilical cord with the shards of Narscil.
The doctor spanked the baby's ass with the hammer of Thor.
The child was then swaddled in the pelt of a Grizzly Bear.

DCFS...Dovahkiin Companion Fighters of Skyrim?

I think he may have a bit before they come calling. Though, keep your ears open for the shouts of the Greybeards.

Because giving a child a unique name is absolutely unheard of and cruel.

Maybe, just maybe the family services can just continue to work on the drug addict and abusive families. Because if they have to go around to every kid named after a month, color, or completely rubbish spelling of a common name, they will probably need 10x the current staff, which they probably need 2x for their current workload anyways.

I hope they didn't do it just for the free games. If I were him I'd just got by Tom. Or just have Dovahkiin as a middle name or something

At the end she put some actualy thought into the name and didn't care about the competition.
That aside, Dova sounds like a ballin nickname.

It's not that bad (it looks like a name from Norway or something). it's sort of a cool name.

And think about it, it could be much worse. See those developers:

Interplay: "You just have to not give you child a name. You know, a nameless child!"

Sega: "Name your kid Dr. Quack. What? You don't know Dr. Quack? He is one of Sonic many friends. In fact, he is the main char on the next Sonic game...wait, come back.

Nintendo: "Just name your kid Zelda and...Oh, hi Robin Willians."

@Baagawk not like they named him hitler. christ its a name that 99.9% of the people that see it will not know where it came from. "his life is ruined" is a wee bit overboard.

There was more too it in the end then just the competition. Plus, I'd rather meet someone with that name than another generic John or Dave.

Or someone with a common name that's misspelled. I worked with a girl who's brother's name is Micheal. You can't tell me that his mother did that on purpose.

like the character name or not. naming it cause of a challenge from a developer and getting free stuff for it is incredibly stupid, Hey Kid guess how you got your name ! you got it from a video game so your daddy can play more games for free from the SAME COMPANY !

i don't give a crap if the mother thought about over and over but when she said " But the more I thought of it, the more I settled on Dovahkiin, contest or not " I scream BS ! you did cause of the contest not cause it was a awesome name .... would you name your kid that if it wasn't for the contest ? NOOOOOOOOOOOO

@HardBoiled2009 My name is Javonta. My brother's name is Jamarco. Yeah we have weird names, and it gets annoying to have to correct someone when they mispronounce your name. But honestly I love my name and my brother loves his as well. It's unique, and I haven't met anyone else with it. Just because YOU think the name is stupid, doesn't mean the child will. Maybe when he gets older he'll like it or he'll become a fan of TES. So take your party pooping somewhere else, Joe.

um.. what ? that's not the point here Javonta you have a name that uncommon ( to me anyways ) congrats on that but Javonta your missing the point when you were born if your parents came right out and named you Javonta then great !

If you were born and named Javonta cause of a contest to get free stuff for life, then that's just Farked Up they could have always wanted to name you Bill till they heard of the contest to name you Javonta and that is my point

please don't think I'm coming here and think i am telling people they have stupid names cause they arn't common names, names like John or Robert or Sam I'm just saying i think it's stupid to name your kid a name based from a contest, Now if their WAS NO CONTEST and the kid was named Dovahkiin then that's completely fine even if it had special meaning to the name or not but based on contest ? then those people are fools for doing so.
