AWESOME! So now that it's officially out, I won't have to create a new world and lose all my effort and work every single time they add some new terrain code or implement a new geographical feature, RIGHT?!?

I've had the game for so long, since before they started charging, bought it. Put hundreds of hours in it, but I just cannot get into it anymore.. =/

Nor do I think the game itself (now unveiled), really has much value in it, it's like the RPG elements were just slapped to it just because. Creative mode is still neat, and you being able to downgrade the game already makes it a whole different thing (but is that considered part of the "game" or just an option a dev gives you?)

Do mods and future updates count towards a current review of the game? I don't know. The game is very open to what you do, it's fun... but feels like a fad, not that different from a social facebook game, even those have rpg elements with meaning (even if they spam you and beg you for money).

@Eniko I'm with you. The RPG elements are ostensibly optional, but they alter so much of the game by requiring you to have a farm, limiting how far you can explore before you starve to death, and making enemies a lot stronger unless you have enchantments.

Hopefully the modding team will be on this and give us some convenient ways to downgrade things a little. :)

@Eniko I have the same feeling... Ever since 1.7 or 1.8 I just can't play it like I used to

Whoa, 26.95? Man, I'd feel suckered if I bought it at that price. I mean, Minecraft is cool and all, but you could be buying Uncharted 3 for that money on Black Friday. The Xbox 360 version will probably cost only $15, I don't see why PC and Mac gamers should be paying so much more.

@Special Agent Steve The game does have a lot of playable time, so the value may seem fitting to an extent. It's not like there are free servers for people to join. I don't know... strange game is strange, even for an Indie game.

Worst part is that for the 26 bucks, you only get the basic copy of Minecraft, you do not receive updates, as all content updates will act as DLC for non-Alpha users.

Wrong... there will still be a lot of content updates free for all paid members.

Anyway, I've spent more time on minecraft than any other game I've purchased so it's well worth the cost.

It was awesome watching this live over the internet. Wish I could've made it, but I had meat to grill.

Still, best of luck to Notch and the gang now that their game has finally been released.

Just loaded it up, updated to version 1, walked around and though 'this is still the same dreadful times wasting pile of crap it has always been'.

I seriously hate Minecraft, it's a cult, not a game. Go and build your castle or your little house. It's all for nothing.

After you've beaten any other videogame do you actually accomplish anything in the real world? No. We play video games for the entertainment value. If you don't get any fun from it then don't play it.

Same goes for all video games.

Because surviving a zombie horde in a structure or cave or floating fortress whatever of your own creation is "all for nothing".

Neat. Finding it a lot more stable since the Adventure update, but that might've been fixed since before 1.0.
