Black Friday PC deals kick off today on Amazon
36
Amazon's PC digital distribution service is rolling out its Black Friday deals now, with a minimum of 50 percent off many of the year's hottest titles. There are also massive discounts on titles from last year, like Mass Effect 2 for $5.
Recently released titles Dungeon Defenders and Might & Magic: Heroes 6 are 50 percent off, at $7.50 and $27.50, respectively.
Other great deals include The Witcher 2 for $16 (-60%), Amnesia for $5 (-75%) and Tropico 4 for $20 (-50%). For those looking for an excuse not to venture near any malls this weekend, Amazon has plenty of discounted titles to keep one busy.

Too bad my backlog is huge still. Keep trying to eat it away, but keeps getting bigger.
I want some PC Hardware Black Friday sales though. =D

Sweet! Just in time for my new PC.
Now the question is, do I take advantage of these deals or wait for Steam's inevitable amazing deals?

They are almost the same deals, same price range as well.
Publishers/Developers control, most of the time, the pricing of the game. Digital retailers sometimes shorten their own cut in order to attract new customers. Steam doesn't this though. Steam is purely publisher/developer controlled pricing.
GamersGate, Green Man Gaming, Direct 2 Drive, Impulse, GOG, Origin, Amazon Download, etc. all have similar deals on the same games.
I tend to take advantage of this. Don't want to give all money to only one company/platform.

Is Dungeon Defenders and Magicka fun also are these downloaded versions also have the Steam achievements or dose it not connect to steam in anyway?

They both require Steam. Just activate the game via Steam, and its the same thing.

If you have a PC that can run it, grab the Witcher 2!

Does anyone know how buying digital games on Amazon works? Do you just get a download to keep on your PC? Is there some Amazon service? Do you possibly get steam keys?
I NEED ANSWERS DAMMIT!
Although knowing how well Canada understands the internet, this probably isn't even available to me...

To my knowledge, Amazon doesn't sell Steam keys. The only codes they sell are for console games.

If only i had a gaming PC. I got Amnsia on the Mac, and that game scared the sh*t out of me, especially with headphones on. I couldnt even play through the whole thing.
Mass effect for 5 though, thats tight. I hope they have it for 5 on consoles too. I knew my wait for Amazon would pay off :)

Its tempting to buy some of those and have them shipped to EU, but then theres shipping prices and compatibility. Why cant amazon.co.uk have good deals too!

There's really no excuse not to own ME2 by now. I don't care if you just woke up out of a 20-year coma. It's Mass Effect Freaking Two.

@Naru now in 3D how long will Mass Effect 2 take to download i have commcast so there is a dumb cap limit and i just brought magicka so i don't know how much is left might have to save up for the retail one :/ ? and do i need to play ME1 to understand the story i don't have the first one either?

While you may not need ME1 to understand the story of ME2, it would behoove you to play the first one because it is incredible in it's own right. In fact I actually like it more than the sequel. And then there is the whole carrying over of save files that I haven't seen any other game do that well. So yea, get ME2 but play ME1 first.

@StormChaser91 Yeah, I have Comcast too but no bandwidth cap...
Anyway, you might be able to still find physical PC copies of ME1 and 2 for supercheap at brick-and-mortar stores if you're lucky!

Black Friday already? Is time skipping forward again? At this rate, by Tuesday it will be Thursday, by Wednesday it will be August, and by Thursday it will be the end of existence as we know it!
You don't understand the forces you're meddling with, Amazon!

The UK version is incredibly lacking in video games, Driver was around £10 this morning and recently Tin-Tin and X-Men Destiny which is still at a rather high price for what it seems to be for a mediocre game.
