Fingers crossed for HD/new texture/new engine/whatever releases of the first 4 games as "Extreme DLC". My head might literally explode.

I swear, I would DIE if that were to happen! That or pay oodles of cash, never mind that I'm almost broke right now.

Ya hear that, Bethesda? XD

The Nexus community has made a mod that connects Fallout 3 with New Vegas, importing companions/gear back and forth, integrating with the DLC and allowing you to start as EITHER the Lone Wanderer or Courier and complete both quests.

Trust me, they will be on this soon.

@houser I doubt it'll happen with oblivion and skyrim, since they use different game engines.

That fallout 3/vegas mod sounds really, really interesting though.

@mjanosko The first game let you go to all lands and was really nothing like the recent games. I can only see morrowind being one since it started what the recent games are like.

It wouldn't be the first time a company re-released a game to use a more modern engine. I can think of two big ones that are coming out in the near future.

How do we know the new Engine wasn't designed in exactly the same fashion as 343's new Saber engine for Halo Anniversary?

Are firstborn still legal tender? If they expand Skyrim to other lands, I will, literally, poop directly into my pants and begin whatever legal proceedings are necessary to surrender custody to Bethesda.

This just proves that they could've included Oblivion, Morrowind, Daggerfall and Arena on the disk, but decided to hold out content!
Time for boycott!

@Hank Hill Direct port? Probably not, just highlighting some of the crazy stuff that exists in the mod community. People have constructed whole new areas like the Santa Monica mod with a Vault City (not just a piddly couple floors and some populated rooms, a whole city underneath the ruins of LA with surrounding hills (and the Vault you are escaping from).

@swooded Do you have any concept of how expensive that would be? I understand that DLC goes too far sometimes, but Skyrim is a massive game with literally hundreds of hours of play potential. I hope you are trolling, so I can blush and go about my day.

Oblivion and Skyrim uses the same engine, don't believe Bethesda. Skyrim's engine is just heavily tweaked. Just look at the bugs in graphical bugs in the game. It's the same damn bugs that they never fixed.

@swooded no the game is just enough to fit on a dvd bout 8 gigs, if the released it all in one go then there would be no point for them to make DLC why would any one buy DLC when you can travel all of tamriel, just dumb business sense. another reason they probably didnt do it is cause it would fit on one disc for the 360 and remember alot of 360 users bitched about that possibility. so if you wanna blame somebody blame microsoft for using outdated technology and holding console games back. and i dont want any fan boys sayin how the 360 has better graphics or whatever fact is if Microsoft would just suck it up and use blu rays every developer would be able to make huge games like this.

Morrowind had caves that made use of Scroll of Icarian Flight (ability to basically fly), one of the many things removed from the later games. It really wouldn't be the same experience, and they'd have to redo a lot of it to make it possible.

@jsx92

Those scrolls were actually just +1000 acrobatics, which wouldn't be hard to duplicate with mods. There is, however, plenty of other stuff in Morrowind that would be hard, notably the mark/recall spells and levitate.

Notice I didn't say "Maybe we can play morrowind in HD." I was more thinking of a little side journey with easter eggs for TES:III fans.

Although a Morrowind remake would be like, the greatest thing in gaming ever....since the original Morrowind.

I do have a question, though; why bother? Why would Bethesda put in all this land that won't be used? Seems odd to me, unless they were trying to help modders.

@Korbie it would make a lot of sense if they're planning dlc to use these areas, in particular for the console versions. Stick the geography and texture on the extra space on the game disc, then the dlc won't be prohibitively massive in terms of storage space. The pc version would of course include the same data, even though it would be less important to include with the initial release.

@Korbie Might have been room for DLC, different production ideas, or as you say modders paradise. A lot of games have random tidbits that get left in. Fallout had them, Mass Effect 2 points to the limitation of the Xbox because Legion and Tali looks like they could have been recruited much earlier with left in voice acting among other interesting stuff.

I can't wait to see what the modding community will do with this over time.

@Korbie maybe to make skyrim look more like part of the world... we know skyrim is the northern part of tamreil... it wouldnt be right to be able to travel al the way to the southern border of skyrim and not see the other lands surrounding it...

I was hoping pre-release that we could see a DLC expansion about returning to Tamriel. I always love to see how a certain world has grown after so many years. One of the reasons why Fable is so special, you can see Albion growing from game to game but still find pieces that were there in the past. It'd be great to see how Tamriel has grown since Oblivion. Has Kvatch been rebuilt? All of the things like that.

Playing through Oblivion now (got it during the Steam sale) and liking it a lot so far despite not being extremely into high fantasy. It would be neat to see how 200 years changes a place like Tamriel.

This makes the modders jobs a whole lot easier now that they dont have to worry about creating an entire landmass, only editing where is needs to be. I can imagine a giant tamriel rebuilt project upstart now that this landmass is already there. i would love morrowind to be back, personally. that would be great. my mind is going a mile a minute with possibilities...
