It's just normal ingredients. Were you a child raised on Happy Meals or something?

If that looks like your childhood food then I'm glad I didnt eat dinner at your house. Yes it has normal ingredients but its only half a recipe, there isnt even any spices. I bet the orphanage slop in Oliver Twist had more flavor.

@Da Mr

Because most of the other current games, while fun to play, just aren't as interesting to talk about, I suppose.

The phenomenon isn't limited to this site, though. The whole Internet is rotten with tales of Skyrim. Makes it harder and harder to not play it every day...

given the range of everything you can do in the game, people are experiencing new things to do and see everyday. i've only finished the thrid story quest, and I'm already 40+ hours into the game, and I still have about half the map left to discover. but honestly, i like to see people having so much fun with a game and having different experiences with it. i was beginning to get a little worried about gaming there for a while. so much rinse and repeat these days.

@everyone

Don't get me wrong,
I'm also currently playing Skyrim and I'm enjoying more than any other game right now, I haven't played such an solid RPG since Dragon Age: Origins (not counting Bastion, that game is perfect but It's not entirley the same genre imo..)

Anyways, I just pointed out that there is a lot of Skyrim talk latley...
Maybe I'm just mad because everytime I load up Joystiq (or any other website) and I see Skyrim-News I get excited:
"yeah! some cool new mods came out!"
or "nice! new clips of strange/funny bugs!"
or "finally, a patch that adds [insert something neat]!" but this time it was just some cooking action... nothing game enhancing =D

I didn't care for Morrowind, skipped Oblivion. But my wife is a huge fan of the series. Between Joystiq, the internet and her, I finally caved and started a game of it a few days ago.

For starters, needs a ping of salt and pepper.

When dealing with flour as a thickening agent, its best to mix it well with water beforehand and slowly add to heat because otherwise it just clumps up, which is why it looks bad.

For additional ingredients, I would throw in diced chicken, parsley, and probably some Worechestshire sauce. I would also cut back on the butter, that's a bit extreme.

@LaughingTarget well you need the extra fat for uh... insulation!! I mean it is the cold area of Skyrim.

This is not to far from other dishes I have made... had it not been the eat drink and get fat weekend here... I would have to try this.

I can't believe you did that.

Also: for future reference, I would recommend sauteeing the vegetables with the butter (since you're using alot) and add flour to that making a roux with butter/vegetable drippings.

Then add your liquid.

I know the recipe does not call for it, this should taste even better if you throw in a salt pile. I won't be needing them to make many regenrate magicka potions, since it does so over time anyway.

I would make the following changes to the recipe:

1 glove garlic.
Substitute butter for bacon drippings.
Saute carrot, onion, and garlic in bacon fat until browned, then add stock, etc etc.
Salt and Pepper to taste.
Garnish Potage with chopped or crumbled pieces of bacon before serving.

Well, we have a problem. There aren't any onions in the game (as far as I have seen), so why does the recipe call for them?
