New game from new BioWare studio could be Command & Conquer by Victory Games
34
In August, EA brass restructured the company putting Peter Moore in the role of COO and converting the illustrious BioWare brand from developer to "label," joining the ranks of EA Games (DICE, Visceral, Criterion, EA Partners, etc.), EA Sports (Madden, FIFA, Fight Night) and EA Play (Maxis, The Sims, MySims). With this new understanding of "BioWare" we bring you the latest scuttlebutt from internet scuttlebutter Superannuation, who spotted a LinkedIn resume (since edited) that described the Marina del Rey-based Victory Games as a BioWare studio.
Victory Games, you might recall, is a new "strategy studio" announced by EA last February, as an offshoot of its EA Los Angeles location. Like Danger Close and Visceral Games, Victory is more of a "rebranding" than an entirely new studio; Victory was set up as the EALA shop handling all things Command & Conquer, much like Danger Close was established to handle all things Medal of Honor.
Now, onto the new "BioWare" game being revealed on December 10 at the Spike Video Game Awards. With the latest teaser promising "a new direction, a new game, from a new BioWare studio," that sounds vague enough to contain a new Command & Conquer installment. New direction? That sounds like Victory's mandate for the franchise. New game? Well, yeah. A new BioWare studio? We're not sure what makes Victory a BioWare studio (per the above LinkedIn resume) instead of an EA Games studio, but there you have it. We'll find out on the 10th!

Well that sounds better than another military shooter.

Oh man, if this is true, we might finally see a C&C game as good as one developed by Westwood Studios.

@Captain Planet Planeteer Power Oh, but Westwood isn't dead...Its spirit (and a great deal of its employees) lives on in Petroglyph games, and their new RTS End of Nations (www.endofnations.com)...which looks pretty promising (if they don't mess up with unbalanced pay-elements in the free-to-play scheme).

@Crimsic All I read from this is that the Bioware brand is being diluted. Hopefully, the game turns out well. But taking another studio that has no prior relationship with Bioware and putting the Bioware name on a product they produce is a recipe for disaster.
At least Vivendi has the common sense to let Blizzard do what Blizzard does best.

Victory Games in an interview said the next C&C game would be announced at the end of 2011.
The promo video for the new game said it was a new BioWare company. Victory games is a new EA company and could've been put under the BioWare wing.
Looking like a C&C game to me. Have know idea what BioWare could bring to the table with the IP unless EA is just slapping the company name on the game because they know Biowares name alone can sell software.

Yeah, that was my second thought after I saw the trailer and thought about it more (since it seems only to be CG footage); an RTS-type game.
It does seem like this is a likely case.
So...C&C with more Kane-cinematics? ;P

Even with biowares help they still might be able to outdo the brilliance of command and conquer generals....

I'll be happy with Command and conquer renegade 2.
The RTS C&C games could use another 2 years of rest. Before a reboot.

I am interested to see what they come up with, all in all, whether it is a complete failure or a success will not affect my Gaming.. With all the brilliant new releases, such as Skyrim, I have nothing to worry about. In saying that, I would love to add another successful game to my collection. :)
Also, if any RTS can come close to SC2, I will deffinately be adding it to my collection. I still love my AOE games though..

I'm usually pretty opposed to people saying that EA has been ruining Bioware and diluting their quality, it seems pretty silly to blame whatever quibbles people had with ME2 or DA2 on EA. But man, it feels a little hard to ignore those kind of claims when EA starts calling Bioware a label rather than a developer.

Now that you say i tmight be C&C, that looks like a technical being blown up. Generals 2 would be cool, though I'd like to see them try and use a Company of Heroes map control style for resources.

I have a friend I went to school with who works at EA in LA. He's told me that he's working on C&C, and that they're going to make up for C&C4. That has me excited. :)
