Reminds me of Elder Scrolls IV on the PC. It's a giant dress up game with all the mods, and I think I've spent more time dressing my character up and snapping screenshots then I did actually playing the game.

But yes, it's quite the sight to behold. Have they put Rabbids in Ezio outfits yet?

It wouldn't surprise me to see that, since they have used Altaïr Rabbids in various promotional materials.

I don't think FF Purists exist anymore. The camp is divided between the Nintendo Generation, PS1 Generation, and PS2 generations already. After 13 hit, anyone that did manage to be a fan up to that point has given up.

The day this happens with Zelda, I quit gaming (outside of retro), and that's not a bluff.

Luckily, no matter what anyone might think of Nintendo, they're one of the last bastions against this bullshit.

I"m not sure that works, because it is FF13-2 that is borrowing from the much better Assassins Creed Series...

FF has become a glorified yet poorly made film that occasionally asks the player to plod down a narrow corridor. A game featuring combat that doesn't demand that the player participate has got its sights severely misaligned. Also, this is a matter of personal taste, but I can't stand JRPGs, what with their androgynous characters who dress like they where ejected from the speeding vehicle into the store window of the most pretentious clothing store imaginable, the angsty drama, and the feeling that I am just a moving company employee carting around the main character on a cart as he or she goes to the next part of what I would laughable call a plot. I don't get any input on what happens.

Yet another attempt by Square to try to "appeal" to us Western gamers. Why do they think things like costume DLC from a popular American game is what we want? What we WANT is for them to go back to making games the way they USED to make them, and not try to make them "flashy" and always moving because us ADD Americans apparently can't play a game now unless it has pretty colors.

Come on Square. You need to listen here. This isn't what we want! (as much as I LOVE Assassins Creed and Ezio (I'm playing Revelations as I type this actually...) I think this is just the wrong route to go.) Get back to your roots!!! I want a good ol fashioned RPG again. Big open world. Exploration. Level ups. Super bosses. All that good stuff. Not a battle system you can choose to fight for you and a hallway filtering me to the next area.

I love you Square. And I'll buy XIII-2 because I didn't HATE XIII. But you're losing people. And fast.

I know I'm gonna get downvoted just for the act of defending SE, but what you have to understand is that FF's target audience is much broader then just us westerns. The Japanese have much different tastes and standards then we do, and trying to please both is considerably hard, especially for a JRPG.

Everyone bashes SE for taking 13 to a whole different direction, but what's the point in making another game just like it's predecessors? So SE can get critisized for stagnating the genre, and not pushing the envelope in inovation like they are known for? They will be bashed either way.

Yes, 13 could have been much, much better. But at the end of the day, it was still a game unlike any other in the franchise. I hope SE continues to innovate the series with each entry. Not all of them are going to succeed, but you can't blame them for not trying. I don't FF to be like CoD.

@DjiegoMoz Well I did say I didn't hate XIII. I do still like it. I'm not saying I personally absolutely hate what they've done. But they need to push the envelope in ways that resonate better with us. Clearly what they did with XIII wasn't the right move. From a company with years and years and years of experience doing this you would think they could be the ones to sit back and really think of a great new way to add things and make it seem totally different without ruining it for others.

I did still say I'll buy XIII-2. Which I will. Probably buy both of them again. Like I did with XIII. Xbox and PS3. But as much as I love Square, I can see their faults showing. This is the company that has crafted game upon game upon game and they made a few too many mistakes with XIII. The years of experience they have should be better suited to a next gen game with tons of possibility. Think Tales of Vesperia. That game did it right.Or Star Ocean. Maybe they weren't the best games ever but they were awesome in their own right. I just feel like XIII was a step back from what I want. Nice graphics, sure. Not the nicest due to how long they waited though. The gameplay could literally be played for you. Why would they do that? What's the point to playing then? When the battles takes as long as they can in XIII it gets to be tedious. Not fun. I actually decided early on to play it without the auto-attack thing. Because it felt dumb to me to do something like that.

So tl;dr I agree with you but not in the way you're thinking. I want them to change and innovate. I just don't want them to do so in ways that push away valuable fans. They must not fail!

@Mastrius

I disagree on some points, the graphics and visuals ended up being much better then I expected.
And on gameplay, while I agree that the automated gameplay did get tedious during the first half of the game, once it picks up the pace it can get addictive. The reason I think 13 offers the deepest battle system in the series is its emphasis on strategy over grinding. On previous titles, despite having some level of strategy required, pretty much all you had to do was grind like hell and you could beat any boss like it was nothing.
13 set a growth gap between bosses, meaning you couldn't raise your stats until you beat a specific boss to move on with the story. I thought this was f***ing genius. You actually required a considerable level of skill to move forward. I was dissapointed when SE said this would be removed in 13-2, though.

And yes, I agree that they need to try harder. But like I said, they have an eastern public to think of. As I'm sure you know, critical and fan reception in the East was far more positive to 13. What we might consider as an obvious flaw, they (the eastern audience) might think of it as a positive trait.
