Okay, now that time has passed, is Crackdown 2 that bad? I mean, I can pick it up for $10 to see, but if it is really that bad I'd rather not and keep my fond memories of the first one.

@Truant I think a lot of the bad press stemmed from it being too much like the first and not as many improvements as people wanted. Frankly the game wasn't worth $60 when it was released, $40 tops. But for $10 that's a pretty good deal and I think if you really liked the first, you'll like the second, but don't go expecting it to be a major improvement, more like an expansion with some more tweaks.

@Truant...It's pretty enjoyable, except for all the guys shooting at you while you're trying to collect orbs.

@Truant

No. It's not that bad, but, it missed what was good in Crackdown. They took away the boss fights and added in a bunch of stuff that simply wasn't fun.

All in all, Ruffian missed the target by a wide margin.

@Truant Pick it up if you're only going to play with friends. It's a blast in the open world blowing crap up with a buddy or two.

As much crap Crackdown 2 got, I still enjoyed the game and it did improve on a lot of stuff and made the game just as much, if not more, fun than the original. I guess they won't be working on Crackdown 3 then? I was hoping that with some more time and resources, a third Crackdown could be a significant improvement over the first two.

Crackdown 2 was that bad ... it wasn't even as well made as the first game, which is why it deserves all the criticism it received. I can think of one positive ... they added co-op.

But here are the negatives - they used the exact same map and assets as the first game, but with less detail and made them "worn and destroyed" to make people feel like they were playing a new game. They removed many of the extras in Crackdown ... like the boss fights, which were some of the most fun parts of the first game.

Basically, Ruffian nearly ensured that Crackdown will not get a third game. It deserves a third game but Crackdown was tarnished by Ruffian's poor and rushed job on the 2nd game.

Crackdown 2 felt like an expansion. I mean, the coolest thing they did to that game was add in the flying and the jet boots. I really wish that they had kept the car transformations though. Basically $10 is how much crackdown 2 is worth. The story is dumb, the freaks are dumb, but going around destroying stuff is fun. Don't look for an engaging story in this game because you wont find it
