Report: Final Fantasy Type-0 getting international release

According to Andriasang, Square's Ultimania guide for Final Fantasy Type-0 includes an interview with director Hajima Tabata, who reportedly reveals that his team is currently working on the international version of the PSP title. This would be the first official confirmation of the game's upcoming arrival in Europe and North America -- though the interview doesn't bring up any details about the timetable for said localizations.

Andriasang also reports that the interview contains Tabata's plans for the franchise's future. He reportedly wants to make a direct sequel to the game, titled (what else?) Type-1, and would like to see the next installment on a home console. We've contacted Square for a comment on ... well, everything you just read.

Sweet. I was really hoping this would get localized. It'll be a definitive swan-song for the PSP.

@Faceless Troll soon bro, it's been confirmed that all they are doing now is polishing it and applying the new lightning engine that SE announced, also there are moogles in it!!!

I hope it's downloadable for when I eventually(key word:Eventually) get Vita. And it should stay portable. Be one of the reasons people want to buy the system.

Nah, just for people who still play their PSPs.

@baby sea tuna There are a lot of people who "still play" their psps. It's a great system with a ton of new and old RPG's on it. If you don't have a psp your selection of JRPG's is extremely small. Unfortunately, the psp is the poster child of how pirates hurt the industry. A TON of people play their psps. Sadly, MOST of them do so without giving any developers a dime. In most cases I think pirating is blown our of proportion. Not so with handheld gaming. I'm somewhat surprised Sony is even releasing another handheld system considering how badly pirates ravaged the psp.

I'm waiting for the turbo version, Final Fantasy Type-R.

Square often makes "Internation Versions/Editions" of their titles (see FFX, etc.), which are basically akin to Director's Cut versions, adding in content that was added for NA/EU localizations and adding in new content beyond that. I wouldn't immediately jump to conclusions that this means that it's getting localized. I mean, why would the development team be working on the localization? Shouldn't the branches in the US and Europe be handling that?

: Vandal.net edited the original interview, showing a complete U-turn and specifying that the part about Type-0 was incorrect. No official world is available about a Western Localization at the moment (Editor’s note: my soul is bleeding right now).

Irrelevant. The source here has absolutely nothing to do with that Spanish interview. This is reporting on something that was mentioned in an official Square-published guide to the game.

Sure, it may have taken all of PSP's life-cycle to finally conceive a game that matches and transcends PS2 potential, but so what? I welcome the support and a title showing such potential.

does square enix suddenly hate money? of course they should make an english version. this is the final fantasy i would've wanted for ps3 instead of that corridor-fest ff13.
