Christmas obviously appeals to our materialistic side, but leaves much to be desired in the instant gratification department. Sony's giving European PlayStation Plus subscribers the best of both of those worlds: Starting today, Sony's letting those users download a new title for free, rotating in a new complimentary game every two days. It's like that song, The 12 Days of Christmas, only it's games instead of days, and Sonic the Hedgehog 2 instead of exotic fowl.
That's the first title, by the way -- Sonic 2 is free for European Plussers until December 3, when a new game will be swapped in. If you've been a member since the service became available, don't get your hopes up: The 12 games have all be free on PlayStation Plus at some point or another. We've contacted Sony to see if a similar offer will be made in North America as well.

Nice, but at the same time, boo for them being all games that were already free at some point.

They don't need to give you anything! This is just a bonus of what they're already going to give you this December.
I'm tired of reading this complaint on every blog that mentions this promotion.

There's nothing valid about acting like a spoiled child on Christmas.

I do hope we get these deals too! I love all the free PSN+ stiff and the discounts! I was on the fence whether or not it was worth it, but after Resident Evil September and 1/2 price Valkyria Chronicles 2 I was sold!

I've only been a Plus member since like August so I'd probably get some new stuff if they do it in North America.
Not Sonic, though. :P

PSN+ is so confusing, so forgive me for asking, but will you be able to play these still once your PSN+ has run out?

@dynilsson no you don't. I've been on plus since it started july of 2010. Its still worth it either way. Plus after a certain amount of time the games are free. My plus ran out for maybe 2 weeks at one point. I was able to play most of the games I got last year with no worries. The more current free ones I couldn't.

Probably not. Typically, unless it's specifically stated otherwise, any game you download will become unplayable if your subscription lapses.

Still worth it regardless,
Paid $50 and I've downloaded about $90 worth of stuff. Usually only get the stuff that interests me too, some games I got I never wanted - downloaded, and they were pretty damn good. (read: I rarely every download the minis - for instance)
totally plan to resub next year!

This is not true. You can NOT play plus games (the ones that are totally free; If you pay anything at all for them, they are yours forever. Or if they are a promo, like the recent "sub to a year, get jurassic park for free" thing. That one is yours forever.) after your time runs out. Some of the early ones were not coded correctly, however, which is why you think what you do. Just to clarify, the games do NOT become free "after a certain amount of time". Just don't sign up thinking this is the case, because it most certainly is not. Plus is way more than worth it though, IMO. Far more so than xbox live, without question.

@dynilsson Nope. Once you run out of Plus, you're games are gone. So essentially these are just rentals you get to keep for as long as you have a membership

I hope Critter Crunch is available.
Always a game I wanted, but it made an appearance before I had PS+.

I was about to be pissed... then I got to the end. I've been plus since day 1, so not missing out on anything.
