WTF EA? Is that hard to just update the old Tetris. I wish I can give EA the "Angry Pirate" ala Patrice O'Neal.

Hands up if you're going to blame Apple for this because it's on the iPhone instead of blaming EA because they developed it.

Seems like EA has jumped the gaming shark. AGAIN. They redeemed themselves from the crap hole they used to be, and now it SEEMS they are going down hill again. First the whole Dead Space fiasco and now charging $30 a year for an iOS game!? WOW. Good luck w/ that EA.

I figured that's what you meant, but keep in mind those were just unsourced rumours from Kotaku of all places. That article was one big [citation needed].

Don't forget project 10 dollar, the Battlefield 1943 ps3 fiasco, shoehorning multiplayer into games, locking players out of their games for forum bans on origin, forcing origin down PC gamers throats, so on and so forth.

I picked this up because it looked way better than the old one, and I'm happy with it, but that subscription thing is completely useless and no one will use it.

so EA wants me to pay 30 a year for Tetris? For Tetris?....FOR TETRIS?!?!?!?!

@OGC

I'm sure they'd like to, but they're not actually requiring you to. You can get the game for $1, their elite membership with "exclusive access to new mobile challenges and content. is a subscription.

So you see, they're not actually demanding you pay $30/yr for Tetris. Just for Tetris DLC.

At what point in the process of development did enough people nod in approval at the "let's charge $30 a year for a game you can get in a million different variants for 1/30th the price we're offering"

Save your money and use that $30 to buy Tetris Axis. The amount of modes on that thing is insane.

Okay, so the game costs $1, but it's $30/yr for the exclusive challenges and a boost in rank.

Even if I had an iPhone I think I'd pass on both.

Well, on the other hand this title is $0.99, it has tons of modes and features built in and it's a brand new, full version of tetris...
That's what I'll buy and be happy, spending $0.99 without getting up off the couch, instead of spending tons more for any other portable system for a new tetris..

People! You only have to pay $30/year if you want the b.s. challenges and stuff and there's a huge market for that, I'm not in that market though.. If all you like is tetris with tons of modes like me you should be happy all them silly people subscribing let you own this sweet title for $0.99

That's totally different.
We're used to MMO's having monthly/yearly fees.

But, really? It's mostly for leader boards an up in rank and maybe an extra mode? Who's gonna fall for that?
