Fighting games are one of the few genres that I think can be justified in leaving the PC, to a degree. If the numbers line up, that is.

I'm a frothing, raving mad PC gamer but I just can't be bothered to play most fighters on it. Even with my TV hooked up. I don't know, it just seems wrong to me. That or most of my friends play them on consoles so I roll that way too for sake of convenience.

@xiLeShadow um no they dont...fighters are speficially targeted for consoles...including Arkham City and Assassins Creed Revelations. There is a reason you guys have to wait for these games.... look at the incompatibility for Arkham city....the same thing applies to fighters. I dont know anyone in my life who says "Lets play soul calibur man come on over and play on the PC. playing fighters on the PC is stupid.....the PC doesnt work with EVERY GAME Battlefield 3 has better online capabilities then consoles.... Name ONE amazing fighter specifically for the PC. Thats right none.....I dont like having arguments with PC fanboys when im an all around gamer....a fighter on the PC is like asking for Ocarina of Time on Ipad. Thats ridiculous...

The fighting genre is lacking on PC, I can agree with that but that wasn't your initial claim.

Your claim was that fighters don't work on PC, which is pure false. On PC, I can plug in any USB controller/stick/wheel, whatever I want and it works. On consoles, I have to get a Microsoft/Sony/Nintendo licensed overpriced fighting stick or w/e if I don't want to use the controller.

On PC, I can use whatever control method I want.

Tell me how fighters won't work on PC again?

@xiLeShadow they would work but its still not a good idea....it would be tacky and annoying. sure you got the controller, but the games for the PC that are fighters are not existent. MK on the PC would suck....it just something you play on a console... it works but its not a good idea. its like harry gregson williams doing dark knight rises and not zimmer. it would work but it would sound tacky

Arcades, which if I wanted to be an elitist snob would claim that are the only true way to fighting games on, are just PC's inside a cabinet, with a monitor displaying the image.

The only reason why fighting games aren't released so much on PC is because the genre has been heavily powered by the Japanese. The Japanese market is heavily console-centric, so they will always cater to consoles.

Things are changing though.

You aren't giving any valid arguments against why it wouldn't work on PC. It is not annoying at all. How hard is it for someone to plug in their control method they desire, go into the game settings, and config their controls to their liking?

Most everyone does this anyways. It isn't annoying.

Mortal Kombat would be amazing on PC. Playing at 1080p or higher resolution with 60+ frames per second would be amazing. Warner Bros is the one not putting the game on PC. The developers already show high interest on releasing it on PC. They practically have a working PC model since the game runs on UE3, which is coded for PC.

@xiLeShadow you sound like my friends who whine that they had to wait for Arkham City and Assassins Creed Revelations on the PC: Reason Piracy... WB is the 2nd game developer who gets stolen games EG, MK, Asylum, DCU online, and more.....Ubi Soft also is a console driven company. Assassins Creed was never specifically designed for the PC its a port so is Arkham city two games that where never intended for the PC but where made anyway to cater to fans. Instead you have people complaining that they have to wait. PC games are also the Number user based Driven games to get Pirated... not Xbox or PS3 but PC....you can thank hackers and idiots who like to pay nothing for games WB is not stupid.....MK is also console Driven based. theres a reason things dont get made and why PC games are delayed.......people complaing about Direct X 11 on Arkham city. well quit and buy a console.....Arkham city and Assassins creed are just PORTS not designed for the PC. WOW and battlefield and Diablo III on the other hand is what PCs are For....just sayin.....if Assassins Creed and arkham City where PC driven Ubisoft would of never released a patch DAY 1 of release and Batman would not have lag or studdery cut scenes....just sayin......and Soul Calibur and MK are really american games.....virutal fighter and street fighter are all japan Namco is a japanese company but Soul calibur for consoles come here first why Japan gets the Arcade first.....

Okay, there's an official PC release of Guilty Gear XX with netplay.
Melty Blood was on the PC first
Street Fighter IV (and SSFIV Arcade Edition) are on PC; heck even the actual arcade cabinet is a Windows PC!
BlazBlue is on PC in Japan and Europe. The arcade cabinets for them are Windows PCs, too.

I don't see WHY fighting games are BAD for PCs. I mean, sure keyboard may not be ideal for them, but it isn't like that's your only option with PC games.

@(Unverified) Trolling trolling trolling, keep your comments trolling. RAWHIIIIIIIIDE. So many goddamn things wrong with what you've been saying. IGN and your teenage friends are calling you back promptly.

1) If I can plug in a 360 controller, then a fighter is PC-playable

2) The piracy scare concern is usually brought up without ANY F%CKIN' DATA to show what numbers they're talking about. Also, every super nintendo mortal kombat and ps1 mortal kombat is playable via hack. Right now Uncharted and Gears games are being played on a computer as crack copies, so enough with the "only PC games get hacked" crap.

3) I'm beginning to think you secretly work for WB and Ubisoft to do BS PR work to explain their craptacular decisions.

4) IMHO, every game that is not a console exclusive (uncharted and gears) should be available on PS3, 360, and PC simultaneously, and then 720, PS4, PC in the next generation.

5) I'm skipping the next generation of consoles as are alot of people, so PC availabilty of games is going to come at a higher demand in the future.

6) WE HAVE EVERY DAMN RIGHT to complain about the delay of Arkham City and Assasin's Creed (especially since Ubi got popular on the PC first and foremost, remember the original Ghost Recons?) These games are developed on a PC FIRST then ported to console, I fail to see the complexity of putting the code BACK ON PC.

7) Why are you raging about what games PC play? Seriously, stay out of this section if you're primarily a console kiddie.

Thank you, and go die.

you dont like go work for WB or Ubi Soft or write an angry 4 year grammar troll letter to both companies. You can complain but it does nothing except you wait and then you buy it... a Smart person would boycott. IDIOT.

The reason it was delayed was because of Warner Bros. If you look into the files, they lasted signed it off the code near the console release. They could have easily launched the game on PC, on day 1, if they wanted to.

You forget that publishers are run by business men who DON'T Play GAMES at all. If they hear a little bad news from one platform, they stay away from it because they don't want to held responsible for bad news.

This is why some ignorant corporate publishers ignore the PC, because they already assume so many things. On the other hand, companies that are run by gamers, do very well on PC because they know how to talk to gamers.

@(Unverified) It's funny that you mentioned your uncle working at Activision, because I think they're one of the better companies for bringing games to PC. Modern Warfare 3 may not be everyone's favorite game but at least the damn thing worked right out the box on PC as a DAY ONE release. There is no audacity to asking fighter-game publishers and developers to treat that genre WITH THE SAME MONEY-PROFITING RESPECT.

Now, no one here is literally going to murder or beat you. In the end, it's just internet flame. But it's simply rediculous to say some games get developed for a console primarily, when we use the same internet connection and controller peripherals as they do.

With Skyrim, I plug a long HDMI cable into the Plasma HDTV (gaming rig is in the living room with the entertainment center) and a 360 controller while resting comfortably on my couch. This is no different than the Xbox experience, and shouldn't be any different with the fighter genre.

@(Unverified) Assassin's creed is awesome on PC if you have the 360 controller. I played AC2 on both console and PC and it looks freaking georgeous in 1080p with all the settings on high.

But yeah..the AC controls with mouse and keyboard are awkward.

I'm playing revelations on console because that's more of a sit on the couch for 6 hours type of game, but when it's cheap on steam I'll pick it up on PC. Those games are always worth a couple playthroughs.

1 The PC platform is superior to consoles in almost every aspect. Any game that works on the consoles, would work better on PC if done correctly.

2 Pirates also pirate console games. This point you're making isn't totally invalid but quite bias.

3 As everyone else noted, fighting games run perfectly fine on the PC.

4 I own every console of this and past generation, but its painfully obvious the PC enviroment is far superior and less expensive in the long run. Consoles are inexpensive PC's with overpriced software. I think its time to begin accepting this reality.

5 WB might be joining Ubisoft on my list of hated publishers.

Jordan,

You missed the point of Schrödinger's cat. It's not that we don't know if it's alive until we open it, it's that it's both simultaneously dead and alive until we perceive an outcome. At which point when we perceive it, both outcomes exist but on separate realities. Going with the many-worlds interpretation.

Kind of like a radio receives all stations at once(dead and alive cat), but we only tune in to one station(perceive) one at a time. Many more stations(realities) exist at that moment, but we can only listen to one station.

Good luck with reaching out to Warner Brothers. If you were on fire and begged them to pull the chain right next to their hand which would release 6 gallons of water in the bucket over your head, they'd pretend they didn't hear you. They appear to have a strict 'Don't ever say anything to anyone, no matter ho reasonable or easy it would be to reply.'

Very strange management style.

Incidentally, I've been playing arcade perfect MK since 2002 on my PC.
