Former Capcom superstar Shinji Mikami formed the development studio Tango last year, and it has yet to produce a tangible product -- and after this generous gift from sibling company Bethesda Game Studios, we shouldn't expect any progress for another year or so. Bethesda, part of the Zenimax Group with Tango, sent one Skyrim collector's edition for every employee at Mikami's studio, which, as we can see in the photo, is more than two.
Tango is based in Tokyo, but Bethesda sent over English versions of Skyrim because there is no collector's edition for the Japanese version, and because people in countries that aren't the U.S. generally know more than one language. They call it globalization. Weird.

Looks like combining Skyrim with real life Minecraft. They are definitely not going to get anything done!

That applies to the UK too.
We generally don't learn languages either.
Of course some people do, But a lot more don't.

Was there something I missed? Both Conditt and Mallory have either been genuinely funny or entirely inoffensive since starting here. What, did you want one of those weekend positions?

Really? I thought we were the only Western country that was falling behind because of our broken public school system...that might explain why the UK has been economically surpassed recently by France.
That would make the UK the third richest country in Europe, though on a global scale it will be much lower than that.

She only speaks the truth. Alot of schools in the U.S. are embarrassingly bad, and the typical American doesn't speak a fluent 2nd language.
High schools just don't general have a solid focus in helping develop that ability.

@The Cole Train Honestly... if you want a fun, gigantic fantasy playground, you really should get Skyrim. However, if you want to feel like an adventurer in a vast and terrifying fantasy world, get Dark Souls.
I prefer the latter.

Isn't it more efficient if everybody just learned Esperanto or something like that?
Chinese is kind of a pain to learn...isn't the minimum barrier of entry for the language to be usable about 4000 characters?

Hardly terrible.
Is there slow down at times? Sure. But considering in 103 hours I only froze three times, where as in Fallout 3 it was guaranteed every 5 hours.. I can forgive the slow downs - that have greatly improved since launch, though not 100% removed just yet.
Seems a dragon + a bunch of other enemies + exploring in an area you have yet to fully explore will freeze your console though, or that was just a total fluke.
This has been bethesda's best game performance wise, and most addictive. Oh god is it addictive.

As a person "in a country that is not the US" I can say that I actually learned most of my English from video games and comic books since both of these got to me quite some time before fifth grade (when we usually start to learn English over here).
I remember looking up words to understand the "halls of the blind" poem from Diablo and stuff like that. Then there was Morrowind... Hell, games are educational!

@sparkster I managed to learn perfect spelling by playing Pokemon and the like for years. Playing so much and reading so often help give you a feel for the language, and I'm hoping to find more books in French that will interest me enough to help me.

Seconded. Videogames, school and then Internet helped me learn and master English (my first language is Spanish).
Of course, my first videogames didn't teach me very much. Old games don't have a lot of text (specially the ones I played), but in the SNES era they helped me a lot.

Well a lot of the things that the gaming community, comic community, and the "geek" community uses has real educational values. I grew up as a comic reader. I have been reading comic books since gosh I suppose the age of 5. I still read comics and have subscriptions to 5 DC comics still. I always found comics as a great tool to entice children into reading. While a children short story or novel might not be to enthralling for them I am sure they would love to read a comic book cover to cover.
Games and provide so much more than just entertainment, That can help educate.

Most Japanese do not understand English very well. I saw a Reuters video that showed that Japan is the almost the least English fluent country in all of Asia. I think it was dumb of Bethesda to send English language copies to Japan.
