Obsidian CEO shares more details on South Park: The Game
30
We're still in the aftershock period of the South Park: The Game announcement, so let's run down what we know again. Firstly, it's a RPG coming to major platforms, and we'll be playing as the new kid in school. Game Informer's video interview with Obsidian CEO Feargus Urquhart now tells us a bit about the behind-the-scenes stuff that lead up to it all.
Of the difficulties his studio faced, the first was trying to create a game both true to its roots and enjoyable to fans of the show. During Obsidian's first meeting with show creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker, the developer tried to really nail the look -- the exterior and interior of Stan's house was created, complete with his dad Randy playing Guitar Hero in his underwear. You know, from that episode.
After getting the look down, the next hurdle was making it "a big epic game," Urquhart said in the video interview, which you can see by clicking through the source link below. We'll all find out if Obsidian succeeded come next year.

This can turn out either really good or really bad. Let's hope it's great! As long as it doesn't hold back with South Park's dark humour then it's a must by!

who cares how long it takes to make an episode of South Park? you can tell a joke in 10 seconds, doesn't mean it's going to be a bad joke.
besides, what you're saying is simply your opinion, and i happen to disagree with it. i think South Park has been hilarious lately. the "You're Getting Old" episode where everything is turning to shit for Stan is one of the funniest things i've seen in a long time...i dunno, maybe you're just not there yet. maybe you don't get IT.

I'm going to agree with you, I've actually found it harder to watch the older episodes as they just happen to be random jokes. Where the newer ones usually have some reference that can sometimes be a stroke of genius if you understand it. Albeit sometimes it's just shit.

they make each episode in six days so that they can include topical humor about current events. it's what's helped South Park stay funny; they'll never run out of material.

i wonder how much they'll be able to get away with here. will they be able to go balls to the wall and pull no punches, all but ensuring the game be banned in Germany and Australia, or will this be a pussyfoot effort devoid of all the cursing, ultra-violence, and hilarity that i have come to love so much from South Park over the years? i have faith in South Park's creators, and depending on how much they are committed to this project, i think it could really turn out to be something special. here's hoping that it does.

Good question.
...But in the end, all we really need is Mr. Hanky, the Christmas Poo. And luckily, that'll pass. And that is a good thing.

The key is that they best not take the project seriously.
As in, take the development seriously, sure, but realize what your dealing with here, and the tone and likability will come off nicely. I like South Park, and I want this to succeed, but comedy can be quite difficult at times.

This needs gore and profanity to succeed. Oh, and graphics that mimick the cartoons, those polygonal models from previous games suck monkey balls.
