Microsoft has announced the surprise release of "My Xbox Live," an iOS application which allows users to interface with their Live Friends in a number of ways. The free App will let you exchange messages with friends, customize your Avatar and compare Achievements on the go. You can also manage your friends list, allowing you to end your acquaintanceship with someone right in front of their very eyes.
You can grab the App for free right now, though you'll have to agree to those new Terms of Service, first.

@Usr666 Check out Spark 360 on the Android Market. Has worked pretty well for me for the last year or so.

Like how, just like the Portabliss section, Joystiq ignores other platforms.
No mention of the WP7 Xbox companion being available today:

@Vcize Not that I know of. Everyone on my list automatically appears on Spark. I can send and read messages from them and add new friends. It all syncs up with Live at the same time.
It doesn't have the neat-o avatar stuff like props or the ability to knock your avatar down by shaking it, but for a way to check out who's online quickly it works pretty well.

It's good, but crashes whenever I go to messages and games, if they fix that then it will be a really great app.

Well this came out of left field. I thought they would have wanted to keep this stuff exclusive to Windows Phone to encourage people to buy it. Interesting decision (to me, anyway).
Well, as a Windows Phone owner, I hope you i-guys enjoy the app.

It's probably to get people onto Xbox more than anything, but yeah ... this is the sort of thing that gives WP7 users something to show to non-WP7 users.

left field for sure. But as an i-user it's an app I've wanted since my blackberry days, so the only thing I can say to this is - bitchin!

Oh totally. It's not a major exlusive feature that Windows Phone is giving up, I'm just surprised that they are.
I'm still plenty happy with my WP7. As an achievement whore, it has been awesome for me.
Oh, and I really like it as a phone, too.

The app still looks to have the beautiful Metro UI built in, so maybe it'll give our iFriends a taste of what the Windows Phone has to offer.

Thats a huge fuuuuuuuuuuu to people who actually own WP7s like I do. This was one of the reasons I switched from my iphone to a WP7. add this to the list of must have apps that dont exist for the WP7 and lack luster xbox games for it my decision to go back to an iphone is becoming easier and easier

How is this an FU to WP users? XBL is INTEGRATED into WP7. This app (slick as it is) is super limited.

Its not limited in the least what are you talking about. It has all of the same features as the ones that are "integrated" into the WP7 already taking away so much of what made the WP7 special in the first place. The only advantage now (aside from cheevos of course) is new Xbox Companion app (so far its exclusive) for the WP7 which is nothing more than a remote control for watching media on your console and really adds nothing to the over all experience.

I don't see how this is such a bad thing. The features it adds are all things they could have done through the web interface of xbox.com.
This just makes it a little easier on them.
I think the two examples you just gave are great examples of how WP7 is still better for xbox integration. The companion app is great, and achievements are a huge deal.
Xbox is integrated into Windows Phone, and will only continue to get integrated at even deeper levels (when game invites and online play is fully implemented, for example). This app is a convenience, but not something that detracts from what will always be a superior WP7 XBL integration.

This is a WONDERFUL surprise and so far the app seems like a great start, but I think at this point I still prefer the 360 Live app for iOS.
Hopefully this one continues to improve over time but great start for now!

theres been a third party xbox live app for iOS for quite some time. Its's called "360Live" or "360 Live," I believe, and it works quite well. and the free version has met my basic needs thus far. I'll download the MS version and compare though. thanks

Well, WP7 owner yes I own Verizon HTC Trophy I tried this one on my iPod the only thing I can say is Xbox Live Hub on Windows Phone is still far better than this one. First Avatar graphic on WP is better with full polygon render but iOS is like they pull this from web base or something it doesn't look sharp like WP. Second on WP you can purchase items for your Avatar in marketplace you can't do that on iOS. Last WP7 has companion app which is awesome if you manage to use it.
Don't worry we still have solid selling point than the competitor and Xbox Live Hub on WP will getting better but at least I can see that MS still taking care if their customer on others platform as well.

also my issue here isnt which one is better its the fact that this was touted as being exclusive to wp7s when they launched last year and now its no longer exclusive.

@SFX BIGANT so this app lets you buy games that will add to you gamerscore? not to mention WinPho's usage of XBL is still pretty much bare minimum.....
