Uncharted series has shipped 13 million worldwide
63
Sounds like the $5 footlongs should be Nathan Drake's treat the next time we pull into our participating Subway restaurant. Sony's Asad Quizilbash tells Industry Gamers that over 13 million Uncharted games have been shipped to stores worldwide. What's more, the series is on a big upward trajectory, with week-one sales for Uncharted 3 doubling those of Uncharted 2.
Just think: For all the time Drake has spent shooting dudes and climbing around in pursuit of riches, the answer was there all along: Make a video game about yourself.
Of course, then he would just be making a game about a guy making a video game about a guy making a video game about a guy making a video game ... and so on into infinity. The snake would eat itself and the universe would collapse from the weight the endless feedback loop of cause and effect.
So ... maybe he should just stick to the shooting dudes and climbing. Yeah. That's best.

The campaign was decent. not quite as action packed as the second one but it was still great. I wasn't allowed to play the MP because I rented it.

here's proof that we, as gamers, are a spoiled-rotten bunch. the campaign was decent? seriously?! i consider it to be the epitome of awesomeness for action-adventure games. the way Naughty Dog seamlessly melds together platforming, shooting, puzzle, and action sequences is amazing. they truly are masters of their craft. to say otherwise is to blaspheme against all that is right within the videogame world. not to mention the game is amazingly gorgeous. i had to just stop running every once in a while to enjoy the eye candy....sheesh, i better stop now, i'm starting to sound like a Sony rep.
if i had to choose one thing i don't like about the campaign, it's that the AI is kind of spotty in parts. sometimes i see enemies run right past my allies without them even shooting, and what's with the enemies that rush you and run into your line of fire? idiots...

Because it didn't strike him as good as the second game, he's spoiled rotten? Fascist, hypocritical strawmen overfloweth. I really enjoyed UC3. Much more than most of the releases this year, even. But I HATED the multiplayer and you could predict, note for note, how the story would be paced. They cut and lifted it straight from UC2 with no deviation. Not a huge complaint considering UC2 is about as perfect as a linear actioner can get, but still. No need to be such a, "IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT YOU'RE JUST BEING EDGY" ponce.
And 'BOOOO' to the people that relentlessly pile on this group think. He didn't just disagree, hee explicitly stated that any opinion that wasn't his is objectively wrong. My brain is bubbling over here.

hah, no i didn't, man. maybe you ought to re-read what i wrote, if you can keep yourself from "bubbling over". all i was trying to convey was my surprise by the fact that he called the campaign "decent", and i called him spoiled rotten because, well, if Uncharted 3 is just "decent" than i have no idea what he could call "great" or even "good". it's not like i came out and said "grrr!!! uncharted 3 is teh kingz of all, protect thy children!!!" i'm pretty sure you don't like me much, and that's fine by me, because i kind of think you're a douche anyway, but just try to relax. oh, and fascist? are you being serious with that???

Fascist as an epithet is almost entirely meaningless outside of popular connotation. As colloquially used as a way to describe someone who propagates detrimental groupthink, yeah, I'd say it's apt; if used specifically in the context of the conversation at hand, and not compared to, say, the actual perceived evil of fascism. But then that which is as mundane as a comment on a video game blog would be pretty flavorless and not very much fun to read, or write for that matter.

so basically you're saying you shouldn't have called me fascist because it was a stupid thing to do and you agree that it didn't make any sense to call me fascist in that context. great, glad we can agree on that.

I actually think the hype and media attention has been way bigger for 3 but then again I really don't remember the attention 2 got so maybe that's a sign?
3 is great as everyone will tell you, buuutttt 2 was a bit better when it came to the single player. There is just not as much sneakin'/shootin' goodness in 3. Better fist a cuffs and puzzles though.

@MrAlex I think they stepped it up on the theatrics, but I found the overall campaign disappointing. Too many running/escape sequences, too many slow nothing-but-walking sequences, not nearly enough gunplay.
And the final boss was a major weak-sauce disappointment. After I beat him, the trophy popped for beating the game, and I said "WTF? Seriously?"

I've been trying to figure out which one is better for a month now. Here's what I can come up with:
Uncharted 2 had a better story. Uncharted 3 had better set pieces.
They're both 9.9's in my book. I think people were looking for Uncharted 3 to have just as good a story WITH all the awesome set pieces, but it kind of did a trade off for them. Like I said though, they are both fantastic games, and U3's story is still plenty awesome, just not as perfect as 2 was.

Maybe the hype on the blogs hasn't been as crazy but it's had more exposure on tv, print & online in general. It's by far the most technically impressive game ever and the story & mp are as good as it gets. Were it not for skyrim it'd be hands down goty.

Just 13 million? FAAAAAAAAR Too low...smh....this most recent game alone should have sold that much by itself....55+ million PS3s sold and the series as a whole hasn't even sold half of what it coulda sold....people are really missing out on great gaming

I bought the first one and beat it in a week then sold it.
I bought the second one and beat it in two days then played MP for a few weeks before I got tired of it and sold it.
I rented the last one from red box early one morning, beat the game in one sitting, and returned it that night.
This might be my favorite franchise of this gen but I'm not spending $40-50 on it when it has very little replay value for me. And honestly I can't recommend it to anyone because of that. I mean it's fantastic game but when there are options to rent it for $2 a night it's stupid to not take advantage of that.

@eat it I replayed Uncharted: Drakes Fortune like 6 times....4 of those was BEFORE Trophies were added. Uncharted 2 I played the store like 3 times and played multiplayer for months. Uncharted 3 I am on my second playthrough now and am still playing the multiplayer.

Well to put things in perspective;
Gears of War 3, which isn't Xbox's largest exclusive, has sold a combined total of 18 million. Uncharted is Sony's flagship exclusive this generation and should have sold more. Its a wonderful series with spectacular graphics, story, and a decent multiplayer. Gears of War 3 doesn't even have the PAL support Sony would have either. No excuse.

Didn't Gears 1 release on PC? Sure, Gears isn't MS's "biggest" franchise but it's not like it isn't immensely popular. It's their second most popular franchise ... What's your point again? Uncharted is a failure because it hasn't sold as much as Gears? I'd argue either God of War or Gran Turismo is still the companies flagship title. Sales did double over UC2 so it's trending upward. It's also on the least sold console this gen so there's that as well. Great games though. Won't find another game with better technical chops or it's combination of features.

All 3 Uncharted games are great. But now, like the first 3 Star Wars movies, they seem to have exhausted most possible locations where the adventures take place(jungle, desert, mountains, plane, boat, train etc).
Therefore, the only possible location for Uncharted 4 is.... Outer Space.

Bottom of the ocean? Perhaps...but they already did the submarine in the first one. Underwater offers some great scenarios though.
So Uncharted 4 will be an outer space, underwater adventure featuring the best schoolbus chase sequence ever seen in video games.
