Reminder: The Witcher 1 and 2 for $24 on GOG
39
GOG's 48-hour sale that gives you The Witcher: Enhanced Edition and The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings for $24 (down from $40) is on right now. The company states this is the "best price" it'll have on the Witcher franchise during its holiday sales, and it's not like it would lie about something like that (well, there was that one time).
The Witcher 2, which we loved at launch, has since received one of the most significant post-release updates we've ever seen, effectively addressing most reasonable criticism. For those without the PC to handle all the visual awe The Witcher 2 has to offer, the game should cast its spell on Xbox 360 in early 2012.

I really don't get the hugeness of that joke. It's not even just a Joystiq thing like the ever lovable DSG (bring that back!). Arrow to the knee is spanning across almost every gaming site I read!
It's seriously not even said in the game that often!

I got Witcher 1 for $2.49 eleven days ago on Steam. I'm now waiting for Steam to have a comparable sale on Witcher 2.

i really hope they bring the first Witcher to consoles like they are with the second. i have a shitty, shitty computer that can't give The Witcher series the respect it deserves, but i would love to experience it in its entirety.

They already attempted to do that. They canceled it.

They didn't cancel the first one exactly. They halted their work on it so that they could focus all their efforts onto getting 2 finished.
They've also said they'd like to go back to it after wrapping up the work they had underway. So it could be possible we'll hear more about The White Wolf after they release 2 for the 360.

The Witcher 2 is in some ways better than Skyrim, combat to be sure. I got about 30 hours into it before I stopped because my attention span is really short, I still want to finish it but it's impossible to finish any game with a new one coming out every third week.

You had me till the last sentence, then you totally went in a different direction.
Skyrim has too much crap to explore, I get walking in one direction and I end up going into various caves, find side quests - completely ignoring the main quest, finally complete the 7th one before I got doing more side quests/misc - 15 later, I've still not been back to finish the main story. XD
At the rate im going I dont think I'll beat it by christmas..

i think that's everyones problem with games like Skyrim, Oblivion, and Fallout 3. there's just so much shit to do that it's easy not to do what you're "supposed" to be doing.

I love those games but damn that arrow in the knee if you aren't totally right!
Oblivion I have 136+ hrs in and never did one main quest mission!!
Fallout 3 I capped the lvl before I even got 30% through the game, then I stopped playing cause I find it uninteresting if I'm no longer progessing lvls.
Skyrim is amazing but it sure is hard to sit yourself down and complete specific tasks!
"ok, I'll QUICKLY turn this quest in and start off towards the main quest nearby..."
meanwhile QUICKLY turns into 2+ hrs of dialog and inventory/shop menus and now I have like 10 more side quests drawing my attention away from the main story!

I really want to buy this but I've already spent too much money on games in last 2 weeks. So, I'll resist for now. Hopefully, it'll be on sale again for Christmas.

Reminder: Dont be a douche. Buy your games, at the very least buy the good games (Witcher and witcher 2 are in the good section)

Your laptop manufacturer is going to have the pertinent information on that. It may or may not be an option, depending on the laptop.

Although I agree good games should be bought, funny story:
I recently bought the adventure game The Whispering World off steam and the audio during the cutscenes skips so bad it's unbearable and renders the game worthless since you miss out on a good portion of the story. Checked Steam forums, the developers forums, and even random help forums found via google. All sources lead to no fix possible.
I downloaded the game off Torrents and it works perfectly. So in that scenerio I feel dumb for supporting a developer/game with my hard earned cash when they won't even patch an obvoius deal breaking problem.

In that case, what our society need is more fools. I wish I could come to your house and steal everything you own. Wonder if that would change your view on morality.
Do you also steal food and clothing from your local supermarket too?
