I just read another article about how in Russia, having a different release date, of about 2 or 3 weeks difference, for a PC game has seen raises in the pirating of the games.

I know this is a Wii game, but the same can be done. Find it hard that to believe that they can't announce it for NA too.. now that is.

@Eniko
Well, it doesn't help that there is actually benefits to pirating the game on a PC for a Wii game, namely higher resolution, which results in a prettier looking game (for the most part).
And the fact that the game is now in English, and no release date for the US announced, well... people who would of pirated the JP game if only they could understand it, now have a game they can pirate AND understand.

I'm just hoping that BECAUSE there is a date for the US Xenoblade, that people will assume this game will have one for here as well, and also that Nintendo does the actually intelligent thing and release it here.

Dear Nintendo,

Don't be a douche. Bring this game over to North America. You know we all want you to.

Stay tuned, Penultimate Parable is up next!

in other news, the big N continues to troll its NA consumers.

The Last Story is apparently merely good, as opposed to Xenoblade, which is reportedly great. I'm much less interested in this one. But really, if they're going to translate a game into English, they should take the extra step and release it in North America.

That's what i was hearing as well, though I was always more interested in Last Story over Xenoblade.

I'm actually playing Xenoblade now, and it is definitely very good.
(Didn't want my import copy to collect just, bought it when it released and just now started playing it)

@Jawmuncher Xenoblade is the definitive console JRPG of the last decade. Handhelds are another matter (the PSP has a shitload of JRPGs that I've yet to even hear about) but for consoles nothing can beat the depth and wonderful acting of Xenoblade Chronicles. It's Reyn Time!

Xenoblade is awesome. The graphics are incredible... yes, I do mean 'incredible for Wii'... but still, in the most impressive parts it almost looks like an SD version of a 360 game. The world is pretty unique and the story is not bad. The battle system's fun. It's a massive game. Some of the music rates among the best I've heard from a video game. And even the voice acting (in English, didn't really try the Japanese) is not entirely shite, which puts it in about the top 5% of games as far as that's concerned.

It's going to be pretty difficult to live up to all that...

Doesn't Joystiq have a Japanese version? I mean, this game came out ages ago, it would be nice to have a summary of how good it is. Like, okay it's not as good as Xenoblade but is it still a 4/5 or is it kind of so-so? If I'm getting it, I'll be getting the EU version, so don't really want to wait to US release date for the review...

@Roto13 But if the Last Story has a translation that isn't complete shit then it will have a huge advantage :) Not to mention, while I'm enjoying Xenoblade, the Last Story is much more my style of game. Xenoblade feels much too MMO-ish to me.

@Roto13 I would personally go one step further and describe Last Story as "plain boring". Xenoblade is fantastic, though, so everyone needs to get that, the disclaimer "for a Wii game" is NOT necessary.

The Last Story really isn't very good, but I guess the US has the right to get to decide for themselves...

Oh no, a merely "good" game! Better stay away from this stinker!

I want this more than Xenoblade. Never been huge on Monolith Soft, but I'll still buy Xenoblade.

And they threw the ball back in our court by announcing Xenoblade. They're probably going to look at the sales figures for Xenoblade and see if we're really serious about buying these games.

Of course, anyone who was hardcore into Xenoblade already modded their Wiis and imported it, so we'll see how well this plan works.

Still in their court for when they served up that news I spiked the ball right back at them by pre-ordering that day.

The WiiU is still in dangerous territory and my determination of the system is going to largely weigh in on how they send the Wii to pasture..... with a bang or with a whimper.

OK, can someone explain why NINTENDO has to be the one to bring these out. Why can't Atlus or NIS America pick up the North American publishing rights? Heck, throw an Atlus logo on the cover and it'll probably sell 10 times the amount it normally would.

Xenoblade has as much to do with Xenosaga as Xenosaga has to do with Xenogears. Which isn't a whole lot, but they are all by the same developer.

@Vic Fontaine Trust me, it's not this game you want. It's Xenoblade.

The previous Xeno-games have about as much to do with Xenoblade as The Last Story has to do with Final Fantasy.

Agreed. I like Mistwalker's work a lot more. I don't care what the "general consensus" is. I bought into the "general consensus" and got suckered with Tales of Vesperia, which I didn't like one damn bit.

Really? I checked Wikipedia and it said it was a sequel to Xenogears or something like that, but I guess that's what I get for relying on Wikipedia. If it doesn't rely too heavily on player farmiliarity I may actually play it, instead of just buying it to collect dust on my shelf.

With it being official that Xenoblade is coming to the US, my hopes for seeing this one here have gone up quite a lot. I don't know much about the game, but considering who's behind it, I really, really would like to have it. C'mon, Nintendo, do the right thing and bring The Last Story out over here.

Do it!

Before Nintendo starts pointing fingers about The Last Story and Xenoblade not selling, I want them to legitamately make an effort in advertising them like they would advertise a Mario game. I wanna see some Nintendo.com frontpage ads, trailers, seeing the games in store catalogues, etc. The works. I dont want them to release the game and if it doesnt sell, have them say "we told you so!".

Considering it's Gamestop exclusive (or might as well be, nobody goes to nintendo.com to buy anything besides replacement pokewalkers or DS batteries) I wouldn't count on that at all. It's almost like they want it to fail, not selling it at Wal-mart, Best Buy, or K-mart is a huge hit.

I mean really, who shops at Gamestop? I only use it to preorder stuff that I know will be rare (like the Skyward Sword CD-Remote bundle), or rarely during their summer sale when they have one or two B list games at a decent price (Worms 2 for DS for 10 dollars :) )

I want this game so bad. Next year is going to be great for JRPGs! Tales of Abyss on 3DS, Tales of Graces F for PS3, Ni No Kuni, FF13-2, Xenoblade, and this of course, I might have to import it... but yeah. Good stuff, glad to see that this genre is still alive and innovating. Not something you see too much in JRPGs.
