And, Psychonauts. Seriously if any of you haven't played Psychonauts yet this is the perfect excuse to do so.
It is my all time favorite 3D platformer and in my top three over all favorite games.

It is the most hilarious game I've ever played and it has some of the best moments in gaming history.

Don't buy Psychonauts. Devs said they don't see any money from it anymore, and they deserve to be paid for such a great game

Really?

I'd be interested in knowing who GOG shells out the income to, then. Hmm...

The comment was made not so much because I want to cut you down or prove you wrong, but because "Don't buy Psychonauts" is probably the most atrocious advice I've ever seen on the internet and I want people to not ever acknowledge it, ever.

If there isn't anywhere you can buy it and contribute to Tim and Double Fine that doesn't mean you shouldn't buy it at all. I mean, you can always donate to them. The game is amazing and deserves to be played by everyone.

There are five or six other games in the catalog that are always free, if you didn't already know and don't mind taking a peek through the catalog. Actually... I'll do it for you.

Beneath a Steel Sky
Dragonsphere
Lure of the Temptress
Teen Agent
Tyrian 2000
Ultima IV

The first Broken Sword game also flirted with freedom recently for the span of a day or two, so it's worth taking note of GOG promos.

A mysterious voice of indistinguishable gender emerged from thin air. "But dark inchworm," it said, "what do you think I should buy?"

Well that's easy!

Another World, Arcanum, Baldur's Gate, Beyond Good and Evil, Broken Sword, Commandos, Descent (especially if you need to induce vomit for any reason), Duke Nukem 3D, Fahrenheit, Gobliiins, Interstate '76 (even if only for the soundtrack), King's Quest, Little Big Adventure (please?), The Longest Journey, MDK, Normality, Nox, Oddworld games, Painkiller, Phantasmagoria (if you like cheesy FMV), Planescape: Torment, PSYCHONAUTS, Rayman, Rise of the Triad, Sanitarium, Septerra Core, Serious Sam, Space Quest IV if you want to die immediately and hate to have fun (but really, buy Space Quest games), Total Annihilation, Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption, The Witcher...

And oh so many more I'd list if I didn't already risk a mass downvote for listwarring!

If achievements make you feel tingly in special places, it's worth noting that Psychonauts recently received a patch on Steam including them, in addition to Steam cloud saves and balance fixes for the notorious "Meat Circus" stage.

It's regularly $10 on the service but will almost inevitably be 50% off or more during the also-inevitable holiday sale.

@darkinchworm You missed The Last Express, probably the greatest adventure game of all time, and certainly the greatest overlooked one.

Does the GoG Psychonauts give you a steam key?

It does not, so no Steam achievements or cloud saving. Like I said in another post, it'll almost certainly be the same price during the Steam holiday sale, so patience may pay off for you.

@Rather Dashing
I only made mention of games I'd actually played; I didn't want to list every single noteworthy game for fear I'd be typing or copy-pasting all night :p The Last Express is definitely on my to-play list.

Sweet! And thank you, GoG for keeping good on your promise and not making The Witchers (the combo of them), cheaper now than they were before. Glad to see that they're not that much more, though. It lets everyone else in on the fun.

Getting Empire Earth at the very least. My pile of shame is so large that I'm not sure if I should get anything else. Thought about Freespace 2, Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy), and maybe The Witcher.

You should have bought The Witcher last week when they were selling both 1 and 2 for $24. And if you are remotely interested in space combat, Freespace 2 remains the best example of it in game form. Plus Robert Loggia.

I bought a gigantic and very cool Joystick + Throttle combination--just to play Freespace 2. But it has so many buttons and Freespace is so old, and requires a hackish driver that treats the two gadgets as a single controller. In the end, the number of physical buttons exceeds the number of buttons allowed on a single device, so some buttons remain "dead" :(

Never tried but don't see why not when it accepts Paypal. Paypal will just convert to US dollars from Sterling.

Man... I got myself into a Freespace phase a few months back. Such a great game. Damn shame that that entire genre has gone the way of the dodo. For the life of me, I'll never understand why gamers no longer enjoy flying spaceships.

Because there hasn't been any good spaceship combat stuff lately. We were all inspired by Star Wars, but even the new Star Wars was lacking in the space dogfight front. Battlestar was good, but too mature and too niche for the younger set.

Today it's all about zombies and vampires.
