Since I'm left mostly speechless from how stupid this hacking thing is getting, I'll let the professor say a few words.

Seriously though, when will this end?

@Ignatius

Sadly it will never end as long as our world remains a partial digital society we will have hacker attacks.

Its just the same as the never ending war on drugs.

Hack The Planet!!!! Hack The Planet!!!!

I miss the days when hackers were simply thought of as Gen X'ers who wore extreme clothing and roller bladed every where.

Isnt SE Members just a thing to register what games you bought, and get prizes depending on what tier you were?

..someone must of really wanted that top tier

@Faenix

Basically Club Nintendo for the Square Enix faithful. I always forget that Square Enix does more than just JRPG's and Final Fantasy. They did acquire quite a few publishing deals and developers.

Also, your theory seems very plausible. It's one thing hacking something like PSN that has credit card info and all sorts of other things of value to "steal." It's another thing to hack a site like Square Enix Members which lacks valuable information. Short of passwords and I guess people's addresses if the hackers are some kooky stalkers, there isn't much to work with.

Probably not the finest digital heist this year.

I don't doubt it. Probably some little kid that wanted an avatar item or something. Then again, Square-Enix isn't cheap like Nintendo. They did give iPods to thier top-tiered members one year.

Truth is, Hackers are just sad, unfortunate creatures who just want to be loved and cared for. :C

They'll be posting this on some secret website "OH LUK GUIZE I JUST HACKED SQUARE ENIX MEMBERS".
Personally I wouldn't even gloat about this , because that's just fail .. Now if he actually hacked Square Enix and recovered all the files for Final Fantasy 13: Versus .. I would be damn freaking impressed.

How about just hacking their main server just to leave a short message to everyone in the Corp. HQ to actually start making games people want again.

That would impress me...this, however is just pathetic.

For a "service" that won't let me unsubscribe after they switched their account system (last year) I say: They deserve it. Sort out your unsubscribe process you untalented hacks. Specifically the web design guys.
