Maybe you thought the development of Sonic CD was simple. "Just make a few levels, throw in a metal Sonic and add time travel – what's so hard about that?" you derisively mused. Turns out there's more to it than you think, as revealed by Sonic Team art director, Kazuyuki Hoshino.

I think that Sonic CD has the most interesting art design of all of the 2D games. Stardust Speedway: Bad Future is particularly inspired.

$5 is good price was thinking it would be $10 or maybe $14.99 since it's Sonic CD.

YES YES YES YES. More Sonic games on XBLA! I fully support this, nonetheless probably the best Sonic title of all time.

I loved the ideas this game presented, but felt like the level design really limited their execution. In a game where time travel is triggered by speed, there should be more opportunities to go fast.

Looks like it's still acting up. :(
@Sampo27
I kind of prefer having to find a proper "venue" to go to a different era, since that'd allow for more variations in the level design overall (ie: you can put entirely different sections of a level in an area that is too "slow" to time travel in by most accounts, so as to not teleport into a wall). Besides, platforming is personally one of Sonic's strongest suits, at least in that era, and Sonic CD shows that off the best.

Best Sonic game ever made, and with one of the best soundtracks ever too. (JP version, obviously)
I have the original Japanese Mega CD version, in pristine condition. Pride of place in my old school collection.
